That's very harsh on Umar. For one thing he isn't a specialist keeper and despite that he kept pretty well in the WI.

Hes not terrible. Handy lower order batsman but won't average over 30.

He is in the team just because of Misbah. He is an ounce better than his brother in keeping. So get used to those drops.

There is no chance of Sarfarz performing under Misbah who always try to undermine his selection. A better bet would be Rizwan.

then the thread should be about him being a poor keeper, which is what we should be worried about, not his batting.

So you prefer a keeper who drop catches almost every innings (not to mention sitters). How many Sarfaraz dropped in SA test series? Are you just basing your opinion on his athletisism only?:thinking

In this age keeper needs to bat also. Adnan used to be pretty safe initially but has started dropping catches recently, but I've seen Sarf drop quite a few catches too so keeping wise there isn't too much difference between them but batting wise Adnan has done relatively better. Still Rizwan would be my first choice.

Not many but how many runs did he make in SA series?
Ppl claim that he is unlucky not to get a test in Asia but he has played LO cricket in Asia and apart from 46 vs Bangla in the Asia Cup Final he's done nothing else.

He made 40 in his last innings, more than Hafeez could make in the entire series. Not to mention the fact that Sarfaraz has played 4 tests in Aus and SA compared against quality attacks compared to Adnan all in Sub continent versus SL Trundlers.

And Sarfaraz isnt an ODI batsmen, just look at his list A average. Horrible

He didn't drop any in SA test series as far as I know. Making runs is not his primary duty, but he should bat better as the requirements have changed. But expecting him to score runs in SA conditions where most of your batsmen struggled is not fair.

Sarafarz is not suited to ODI cricket. Rizwan is a better choice. But for records that 46 runs won us Asia cup in difficult situation.

Never got why some Karachiites try to put down their own players. It's a form of regionalism in itself :shrug

Have you seen Rizwan keep? Ever?

Though I agree Rizwan is potentially better

Sarf>Adnan any day of the week

#1, just so u know the only 50s (3) Adnan has are against zimbabwe, bangladesh and england and that too on flat tracks.

#2, how can you rate Rizwan above these 2?

We can do 2 things o rectify our keeping problems:
#1- Play Sarfraz in the tests.
#2- Bring in Rizwan or try other new keepers.

While the rest of the world has legit keepers, we are relying on the akmal brothers..and why?because their last name is akmal and they are a must for keeping?

Those claiming Adnan is a better keeper need to go back and see highlights of Zim series and first SA test.

We have no one from Balochistan.

Younis, Afridi, etc only got chances from Karachi, not Peshawar

Regional bias is natural thing but i honestly feel that wicketkeeping position in the national team has been used as political chair between Karachi-Lahore..it is a special seat no doubt.. #nooffense #youmaydisagree

If he's the best keeper, then domestic teams would have 100% draws, even with our crap batsman

Adnan Akmal is quite decent, but I agree that we probably have better options. I don't begrudge the chap his spot though, since he's performed moderately well

Why so content with his medicore performance as wicketkeeper?

PCB dropped a wicket keeper who did well with golves (meaning no drops like what we see from Adnan) in SA but did not performed with the bat. PCB continuing with another wicketkeeper who is dropping catches almost every innings but scoring few runs eventhough in better batting conditions. Defies any logic if you are strickly talking abt a specialist wicket keeper.

    Forget about that.

Some pathetic threads by Mig to bash SA & their great players.. while overhyping the same players who lost a match against Zimbabwe not long ago.
