so you dont want him, we dont want him... then what?
Let's give him to the Gul lovers :lols
Afridi has been playing since 17 years and he still bowls/bats like its his first game.
Before Afridistas jump on me, the guy averages 23 with bat and 34 with ball for a reason.
So going on that, he's a lower order player that gives you a quick fire 23 with the bat and gets 1/45 or 2/45 in 10 overs? Is that so bad?
No its not bad, but this is what we call bits and pieces players, who can do a bit of batting, a piece of bowling. In other words, jack of all trades but master of none. He hasn't been able to find a role for himself since the past 17 years. When he bats well/ bowls rubbish his fans say he is a batsman. When he bowls well/ bats rubbish his fans say he is a bowler. He is as confused about his role in the team as his fans. Add to that he has 358 wickets in 359 matches, that is less than a wicket per match.
Note that he has that 23 average because of his once in a blue moon monster performances with the bat. On average he never gets 23 with the bat nor does he get 1/46. The reason we are struggling is because of bits and pieces players like Afridi and Hafeez. We need specialists.
On a side note, anybody tell me on what basis he was selected for this series? Any performance in domestic cricket or anything? :confused
So what is this blue moon that occurred 4 times in last 6 matches?
4 times in last 6 matches- Single digit number of games are not enough to judge a player.
We have been seeing the torture since 17 years. He has never changed his approach. Has all the talent in the world but the compartment upstairs is empty.
You are correct. We need consistentcy not inconsistent matchwinners!
You're a Wahab Riaz supporter :rofl
He's NOT consistent.
I believe you are alberto from PP.
Not a bad tour for Afridi. He performed well. His 1st T20 batting was sensible but just in the end throwing away the wicket was a horrible idea. His first Odi was dreamy one but he needs to strike with the ball more than often. If he can continue the way he batted in first T20, I don't think anyone will blame his temperament. Anyway, it gives him another chance.
Like it or not he's booked his place for a good few series.
Straight Drive How would you know that?
Style of posting, username and the obvious fanboyism associated with Wahab Riaz
It's not a very big secret now isit.
Afridi is a very overrated player who is just wasting a place of someone better and younger!
Afridi can be dangerous and I don't know why people are jealous cause he has broken a lot records in int. cricket.
Please name a youngster who is a better match winner than Afridi.
Knowing ALbIe it'd be Wahab Riaz :lol
Umar Akmal I think
I should've clarified.
A better youngster who is a match winner and isn't in the team already.
2 big 50s at an S/R of 100+ in 10 innings to get us out of deep water, and a 46 in a T20 but he's still a hurdle :fp
Hatred is blind. :shrug
Mainay suna tha Love is Blind. :shrug
We have many spinners who can bat and bowl better than Afridi like Sohaib Maqsood,Saad Nasim,Adnan Rasool!!They will have a better batting average than 23 and bowling average than 34!
Sahibzada khanzada lalazada akhunzada ameerzada basharzada awalzada Muhammad Shahid Khan Afridi wants captaincy again. :fp
Afridi should have bowed out in 2009!
kuch nayaa bataao yaar
I agree that Shahid Afridi should not be selected on the basis of his recent bowling form but is it his fault that he keep getting picked up?
Shahid was a phenomena is a team full of legends like Wasim, Waqar, Inzi, Yousuf, Younis, Saeed Anwar, Razzaq (in his best form), Akhtar and many more. In the company of those his 2/45 or 1/45 in bowling did not hurt the team. His 20-30 runs innnings with a Strike Rate of 120+ used to be a treat to watch because bulks of the scoring was done by Saeed Anwar, Amir Sohail, Yousuf, Younis, Inzi and other. His failures also did not hurt team on most cases.
For the last @3 years, he does not have those players to carry the team and being a senior player his failures stand out like a sore thumb. He is the same player (batting average from 20-25 and bowling average 30-35) he always has been. No change at all. Unfortunately for him, the players around him have totally changed. You can break down his stats by either 5 year intervals or 50 matches, his numbers will be almost identical.
You still need better numbers than what Afridi has been showing in last 2 years!Even WI played him well which shows he is not a surprise anymore and is becoming predictable without his loop and spice off the pitch! He must bat responsibility as we have no batting after 6 down! He needs to be more selective in choosing which ballto go for!!
Afridi never recovered from the Boom Boom tag and its too late to recover now. Its over. Its time for PCB to tell Afridi to focus on T20s only or nothing.
I would go further than that and kick him out of all formats!
Lala & Professor are useless? :thinking
Wait, don't say you will blame Afridi for this batting
Take Lala out aand series would have been 4-0
