Pakistan cricketer and the ever controversial Ahmed Shehzad as it turns out has tested positive for a recently conducted dope test. At this point in time, there are little details available about when the samples were collected and which body had done the tests. However as per Pakistani journalist Saleem Khaliq it is a confirmed report.

He posted a tweet a few minutes ago that said that Shahzad has tested positive for a dope test and that the same has been confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). We still await any official confirmation or word from the board which will clarify the situation and also the extent of suspension or ban the cricketer is likely to face.

I am not surprised at all!

I don't believe that our cricketers (or most of them) keep themselves in good company. Yes I am judging them but thats how the local cricket scene is at lower levels.

Moreover, lets not forget most of our cricketers belong to humble backgrounds with little or no formal education so they get easily enticed towards good and mostly bad luxuries when they start to earn money through national team.

If this news is true, its more sickening because, (1) the guy is married with a kid (2) He is professional cricketer supposed to keep highest levels of physical fitness (3) Drugs make your face ugly which affects your selfie shots

Shocking news if true. We don't need more controversy around our team so I am sorry to hear this. That having been said, I am not a fan of Shahzad. He has been playing international cricket for almost a decade and would have been aware of the risks of such activity. Very poor move on his part.

Munna bhai I disagree with you here. Poor background and lack of formal education isn't an excuse for such activity. They would have been briefed by the PCB/ICC about such risks and have plenty of examples around them (eg Asif and Akhtar have been in trouble before for drugs. We have Raza Hassan too who looked so promising).

Hope Shahzad is given a proper punishment and is used as an example for others.

Agree on your point and I didn't mean it that way. Cricketers are more exposed to spoilt influence at all levels esp in Pakistan so an unqualified person is more susceptible to be badly lured towards banned substances, mujras, fixing etc.

As you have said, he wouldn't be the first person to get caught taking drugs so yes its high time a stern step is taken.

Pakistan cricketer fails doping test: PCB

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday said that a national-level cricketer has tested positive for a “prohibited substance” in a test conducted during domestic cricket season, ARY News reported.

“A player has reportedly tested positive for a prohibited substance,” the cricket board’s media handle tweeted.

The short statement issued by the board says that the authority cannot yet name or take action against the player as per International Cricket Council (ICC) rules “until the chemical report is confirmed by the Anti-Dope Agency of the government”.

The statement adds that the process can take a day or two.

Sources and media reports, however, say that the cricketer is opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad.

Very poor to see Shahzad be involved in such things, he is a senior cricketer and has been involved in the international scene for 10 years now.

Seeing as the guy is an idiot who can't even learn to pierce the gaps after a decade in international cricket, what else did we expected?

But it's also very good news as well. Now pcb can not shoehorn him in the team.
So, basically we should all say "let's celebrate".
