We should forget about him being an allrounder and just develop him as a number 6 finisher we lack so much. This guy is on the same order as Hamad Azam with the bat and with Bhatti we actually have a bowler who can bat.

We need a fast bowling all rounder. Give him a few games to show his worth with the bat.

Anwar Ali is just another Wahab Riaz in the making.

Thrives at his secondary job and sucks at the primary one.

And people + management will get fooled in this.. standards have really gone down matey.. these guys who started watching cricket in last few years don't know about True Pakistan Team and players played for Pakistan.. that's why players like Azhar, Misbah, Wahab, Tanvir, Bhatti, Anwar, Asad and many more are over hyped.

I think Wahab is rather credible as he took a 5fer against India in their own conditions in a Semi Final plus he did not start the WC so he showed his calibre!I don't think Junaid/Gul could ever do that!

on a side note, isnt it amazing how the players from the u-19 final in 2006 progressed? India may have lost that match but have developed some of those guys into really good players

Hammad Azam is a genuine batsman, Anwar Ali is a good hitter. There's a huge difference. However I would like to see him and Bhatti developed in a Razzaq type role as both can bat as well as bowl. No more Sohail Tanvir.

Thats exactly what i said buddy, Hammad Azam can throttle mid 80s but is SAMIsque in line and length. Anwar Ali is flat as a bowler and is only one level above Indian bowler Kruvella of late 90s. They should chug out Afridi and Hafeez and throttle in Anwar Ali and Bhatti in their roles and now Raza Hasan gets a place in the team with Ajmal and then play 2 proper top order batters and Misbah can now move up.

I have seen Anwar Ali play for Zebras or Dolphins and his batting would bail em out after Hasan Raza and Faisal Iqbal would kill the match with their 50 strike rates and 30 average. But he is not a bowler and after 6 years in the circuit, if he has lost his inswinger, then he can never be as well.

Dont judge him by his bowling, take him like a batting hustler who can roll over 4 good overs and thats it.

No bowler is more capable of giving away 15 runs to a number 11 batsman in the last over. Surely that's true

So he didn't play at the number 11 position? Hmmmph
It is inexcusable that a bowler at international level can't get a number 11 out in the last over when 15 runs are required, let alone giving away the 15

This guy is gonna get murdered by the Indian batsmen. I understand that the team management selected him to strenghten the batting, but he still would need to bowl a few.

Not to forget guys like Hafeez and Afridi wont be very effective against them either. You might end up with having 3 guys making no to little impact.

lol so far Big Daddy has got it right about Anwar Ali - he is a better batsman than he is a bowler and by all accounts he is just another straight up and down medium pace trundler liable to get slaughtered at any moment

his bowling is pretty poor right now. as said above, afridi and hafeez I dont fancy against india, so if we add anwar ali and a choking gul we might get an almighty target to chase.

He's just a stop gap until Pak find a proper all rounder. His bowling is here and there, no pace, no swing and batting is average. That said he's still useful as a 3rd/4th pacer or a no.7 bat in ODI's

7 t20is and hes only bowled more than 2 overs on one occasion, when he bowled three, has bowled a total of 13 overs in 7 games. so whats the point? although competent with the bat hes hardly a t20 match winner. dont see the point of choosing him over hammad if you only want him to bowl 2 overs a game.

He's a useless bowler, hasn't done anything special. He can't perform with the bat and is a pretty garbage bowler. Surely he's had enough chances to prove himself, consistent fails.

Bowls dead straight and even Kukkad can match his supposedly very decent batting.

But I guess they'll keep selecting him. And to think they even made him the captain in some Pak A games lol

Anwar Ali could've been a bright prospect but like so many before him he's been let down and destroyed by our system. Now he's just a useless bowler. Instead of wasting our time on hopeless players why can't we select some one young with potential before they too get sucked into the system and are destroyed.
