Back against the wall. Can't bowl, can't field, some can bat. Obese players, old-age weak players, extreme raw youngsters - we have it all!

World Cup is a different ball game though - do you think the results of this bilateral would become a blessing in disguise? All our players were far too stiff to run around, and with the epic phainty we have received it will be actually be just the kick our boys needed?

I don't know. I'm usually pretty optimistic and I don't know if anyone's noticed, but I've been pinning Pakistan to win this World Cup.

But after these two series, I really don't think so. I've always thought that Pakistan can win if its batting clicks, because that's always been the weak link. Our bowling is always solid, pulls it together, and then it's the batting that just needs to make things happen to win the game.

Now the batting is clicking and the bowling has absolutely nothing going for it. And you cannot win a tournament on such awful bowling. As they say, batting wins matches, bowling wins tournaments. And that's exactly why we're not going anywhere, unless Amir coming back suddenly gets this bowling line up together.

Additionally, this team has looked completely mentally broken. Losing will do that to you.

Yes. Don't read too much into the results here. Pakistan should have won the 2nd and 4th ODI even with all the problems.

This series has actually given me a bit of hope. We have shown we can score 300 consistently. That is quite a big deal considering just in the recent past we scored around 270 at a push.

England have a very strong batting line up. If we bat like this we can easily win 5 or 6 games in the group stages.

This should give guys like Imam, Babar and Fakhar some confidence that they can score big.

Now the big question mark for me is on the bowling....something needs to be done here and drastically.

Yes we still can win it, if we select only one batting all rounder among Malik, Hafeez and Imad in the playing XI, and replace the remaining two with specialist batsmen.

People got to seriously calm down and relax.

We were playing the #1 ODI side in the world and should have beaten them in at least 2 of the games. Our bowling will be fine, especially with the return of Shadab. Batting is good, even today we were 6-3 and still managed to get to pretty much 300.

Yes, fielding is an issue...thats a worry.

However, other than that i see no reason WHATSOEVER why we cant beat the WI Inn Shaa Allah and once you get off to a winning start, then its a major tournament, anything can happen. Dont worry.

Need to start on a winning note against WI on 31st and get this monkey of losing 10 games off the back. Once they start winning then why not.

But remember our first game against WI is at Trent Bridge and WI is having some really explosive batsmen. I think spinners will come into effect against WI and we can restrict them to manageable score.

    That’s the problem here.

We have been scoring 300 runs where 380 should’ve been easily done.

Don’t let the 300 figure deceive you.

has anyone done any analysis on how many games, roughly, do pak need to win to make the semis?

There are total 9 games so if you win 6 games I think that will be enough. Winning against Eng, Australia & India is very crucial.

Don't let England's batting fool you. No other team will be hitting 350+ so easily. Not even India have the fire power to match England's batting.

You also need to take into consideration that England were only testing different combinations and didnt play their strongest team from 1-11 even in one game and most of the games were just batting practices for their batsmen... and even then they won it easily.

The quality of opposition faced in this series will not be the same as in the World Cup. I thought we played some competitive cricket even though the results were not in our favour.

Sure fielding is a big red flag and so is the bowling but with guys like Shadab and Amir in we will definitely get a boost in both departments. Not to forget our bowling did find some form in the last 2 games.

All the best to Team Pakistan!

hmmm, bang, sl, afg, wi i can see pak winning, eng, aus, ind, sa, nz could be difficult. sa doesnt have as many hitters as the other teams, chance in that game.

so i think pak can reasonably hope to win 5 games. so qualification will rely on having a great day against nz, ind or aus, not impossible.

if pak can sort out opening bowling there is an outside chance of qualification still, unfortunately this means the first game might decide paks fate in the tournament :/

Although we lost 4-0, there are many positives from the series. Could have easily won 2 games here.

We need to improve fielding ASAP and bowling will be boosted with shadab and Amir returning.

Pak will have a strongman crowd following in UK as always and will be fired up for the WI game. Need to win the WI game Cos the next game is v England so can’t be losing two in a row - will put massive pressure.

Personally I think this series (if they learn lessons from it) should do them the world of good.

Batting: No more messing around. You know what you’ve got to do, forget the malik Hafeez politics. Learn the lessons. Top 3 are nailed, Sarfraz has to bat at 4 or 5 at the lowest. Haris has to play. Only room for Hafeez or malik, not both. Asif Ali (family permitting) has to play. Promote Hasan up the order.

Bowling: I’ve given shaheen some stick, but today was a heartening performance. He finally bowled with purpose and pace today. That’s all I wanted. Enough of this 82mph nonsense. Hasnain is a good wild card but Azhar please earn your cash and sort his run up and rhythm out.

Amir must come back to open the bowling. Yes he hasn’t done much but he gives some semblance of control to the bowling. Shadab is badly needed too.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again - we’ll never be consistent enough to be ranked in the top 3, but we can get in to the groove and have a great 4-5 matches. That’s enough in a tournament.

Just go out there and do it now

Contrary to what people think, I saw all the players live today at Leeds. I don't think anyone is obese. Most are just as skinny as any of the England players. The only bulky player is Yasir but hopefully he won't be played. Even Imad is actually pretty normal and not excessively fat

I think batting is decent now. Just need to keeps their heads together. Bowling is the biggest concern. Watching the lengths the bowlers bowled was a shocker. Continuously bowling length balls with no real full or yorker deliveries. Husnain is fast but nothing else exciting going for him. He needs to be dropped

India has Bumrah who naturally takes wickets. Bumrah also has the support of some really good spin bowling.

Then you have Australia and South Africa.
South Africa, I will give it to you. But I don't think I am convinced that Australia does not have the fire power to score 350 runs if the pitches remains like they are now.

We played the best ODI team on the planet on their own turf and we're pretty much in every single game for majority parts of it. Not every team will be as good as England have been once the World Cup begins.

We've seen what our weaknesses are now and what we are capable of. The latter part should give the entire squad enough confidence that they have what it takes.

2 warm up games left, Micky Arthur and his coaching staff will do everything they can to ensure these players are ready come 31st May.

Our bowlers need to find a way to get the wickets to win the tournament. Pakistan conceding scores above 350 every match is a bit of a hearthache even knowing the pitches are pancakes. It hurts. We need to find a way.

Pakistan bowling attack should be Amir, Shaheen, Shadab, Hassan, Imad and Hafeez and Shoaib Malik (if he plays) / Harris Sohail/ Fakhar Zaman.
