Never thought I will say this but I'd rather have Farhat, Malik, Kamran and Azhar Ali bat in ODIs than this ......

Even Bhanja and Farhat would have done better and that's saying something.

He's not a bad batsman, but he's wasting his potential massively. He shouldn't be in the ODI team for some time now. This is really disappointing, I really want to see him do well for the sake of Pakistan.

Yeah. Hopefully he can have a Hafeez like renaissance. Averaged just 18 in his first 50 or so matches and then when he was brought back in 2010 averaged close to 40.

Just needs to spend more time in the nets and maybe work with Yousuf since that's his favorite batsman.

he used to pretty good and above average ODI batsman,

now he has lost it completely , a good domestic List A season might help him get back his confidence

What he needs is a motivator or psychologist. His problem is more mental than technical. Even his Test career is not a reflection of his full ability, except that last 100 vs NZ. He needs to clear this mental block he has.

The way he keeps getting out in ODIs is not a technical fault, though it looks like one. It's his go to shot (flicking), and since he's blocked mentally, he goes straight to his go to shot when it's not on.

A firing Asad Shafiq will be great for Pakistan and for Shafiq. He is captaincy material, but he won't be captain if he can solidify his spot in the team.
