I have to say this test is proving that England are at times overrated.

The fact that the conditions are not suiting the bowlers goes to show that England bowlers do depend on conditions.

Commentators keep going on about reverse swing etc, but what happened with good old line and length?

In my view any bowler that depends on conditions is not a great bowler in any sense of the word.

    OUT! Smith for 89.
214 runs partnership is broken by Swann at last.

Aussies will be looking to bat just once in this match.

Top, top innings by Clarke. Leads the team to a deafening target for England.
England better open their eyes, the youngsters are rising.

Still 38 overs left in the day. I think Aussies will declare their innings once they cross 550.

    527.

THIS is the sort of score a team should aim for in the 1st innings. And in 5 sessions I say this is probably the best display of batting in this series thus far.

England average around 350 in the 1st innings in the past 18 months.

    Jimmy scores 116 for 0

Question: Can Aussies win this and keep the Ashes a live or it'll be boring to see England winning it once more?

I can tell you now England will be playing for a draw - meaning they will retain the Ashes.

Lyon was unfortunate not to play in the first 2 Ashes tests as Australia made some absurd choice of going ahead with Agar who obviously did more with the bat than the ball!

Lyon before this test match in his last match got 9 wickets!

He should've been their No.1 spinner going ahead into the Ashes!
