Hard to believe he's only 16.
He needs to be kept away from Pakistani coaches lol. It's a nice smooth action so he's only going to get better hopefully.
Already the quickest bowler of the match. Incredible.
Aussies are motoring along here
Aussies know how to not get bogged down by rotating the strike. Also we are bowling too full.
Looks like they will probably score 650 + and won’t have to bat again with match ending in 3 days.
Why is Azhar persisting with pace?
Why did we decide to play tests again in Oz?
It’s going to be a long day in the field for the lads.
Its been a long time for us too, all the way back to 1995.
Lol true. Embarassing.
Azhar is clueless
STILL refusing to bring in Yasir and is persisting with IK. Wtf is going?
This is shambolic. As always, bowling continues to struggle in Australia
A chastening day in the Brisbane heat. Aussies too good. Will be a miracle to escape defeat here.
Mohammad Abbas has a wry smile as he sleeps tonight.
Disappointed by Australia - They should’ve scored 550 and added another 100 by lunch tomorrow to declare the innings, and then wrap up the test by the end of the 3rd day.
Not fair on the crowd. They will bat another day and Pakistan will fold on day 4. Innings defeat looming yet again in the land of Aussies.
Excellent bowling today. Much better.
its men against boys. A battering performance by the home side.
inexperience bowling line up
Horrible and clueless bowling.
Daft shot selection by batting. Harris, Shan, Azhar, Asad, Babar, Iftikhar. All of them have played 1-2 daft shots this game gifting their wickets away. The whole batting is so unprofessional and make errors so regularly that they can't build a big innings. Its embarassing for those watching but don't think those playing even care.
we are always horrible at the start of a tour. mentally this team has been defeatist and weak for decades now. the question is how they recover. the new management have only just taken over so this is more a reflection of the past than the present, and the team is featuring new players, so they will have to all bed in.
theres no other way around it. as much as its excruciating being humiliated like this for the umpteenth time, the way you fix it is changes, thats what happened, so now we just have to see what happens.
I can make good, rational arguments I think for how Azhar and asad should never have had the run that they have been given for example, and that they are not ever going to be anything other than b+ players at best; but then even the replacements I think would need to bed in, and so the results would have been unlikely to have been any different. Haris for example, would have looked far superior, and yet we can all see his fitness and mental fragility.
at least its been encouraging to have found a bowler who might be raw but has some heart. lets hope he is managed better than Hassan and shadab and doesnt go the same way as most Pakistani young players favouring fame over career.
Massive day for Babars career. This could be a defining innings. If he doesn't make a 150+ score I will never rate him. He's played so many tests now and been below average. Good players would have played at least 4 match winning innings by now. This guy has 0. Starting to think he's a wannabe at this level
i dont get why us fans expect good results from this team
like they are the worst bunch of players in the world. the domestic is the worst domestic level in the world
we are now on the same level as bangladesh 2000
difference in class between the sides is too apparent and then the mental issue we have v Aus.
Babar in Australia: 8 innings, 89 runs, average of 12.
1 not out which is his current innings.
The guy needs to do something big today or next game otherwise in my eyes he's a below average test match player. He's got talent and technique, he's underachieving, he needs to produce something NOW!
ive been vocal about not being convinced by Babar as a test player since he was selected. it doesnt make sense to me that if he were a long form player that he would be averaging 30 something in FC cricket whereas some of hie peers are averaging in the 50s.
however, expecting record breaking heroics in the second innings of the first match in a series in a country we have hardly ever had success in with a new management team and pretty new and experimental first team is probably not very fair.
im not convinced by him as a test player but it wont have anything to do with a single innings.
If you want to look at the past then you will see its a country that Pakistan players have scored big in for a while now. Azhar with 200, Asad with 100, Younis with 100, Butt with 100. Lots of players have done it. Look at Kohli with 3 100s in a series!
If Babar is any good then he should score a 100 too. Fact that he hasn't managed over 20 runs in 7 completed innings shows he's hype in tests until proven otherwise. If he doesn't do it today then when? how many more chances? this pitch is easy to bat on too. 2 massive 100s by Aussies so far and 50s too.
I can't argue with that - the only difference in our opinions I think is that I personally wouldn't use a single data point as a decider, id use an aggregate. we might end up at the same conclusion though, for you this one data point, and for me adding it to his career so far might lead us both to the same conclusion that we are not convinced by him in Tests.
that all said, theres no choice for this series but to play him because of the squad.
I see where you're coming from. 1 good innings or bad innings doesn't prove the quality of a player. However, a big one now would at least show he has some ability.
I think Babar does need to play next match definite but the hype needs to be piped down. He's just not deserving of it in tests. Very disappointed with his career to date. 1 century in 42 innings....
How awful is Wasim’s commentary?
Need two massive double hundreds.
If Shan doesn't reach a 100 here then chuck him out please. He's just another stop start player. A poor mans Asad Shafiq lol. This is his crucial period where he loses concentration and nicks behind
Pakistani folk have a beautiful habit of throwing it away when set. Need to score big
anyone expecting anything other than an innings defeat needs to stop with the lambs bread.
Lost by an Innings and 5 runs.
