Big blow. Looked good in his first test innings in England.

Also makes it even more important now that was finish off England before/if they wipe off our lead.

Jesus, no they didnt, it was a good ball, variable bounce, should have risen a lot more than it did, he played it poorly. its a mans game not a childs game. stokes even consoled him as he walked off.

since Babar won't be participating, Pakistan will only have 9 wickets in both innings

That was a brutal delivery. Hopefully Babar makes a full recovery.

I hope Babar doesn't take this to heart. Hope he takes it like a man and comes back stronger. Its part of the game. Broken finger, wrist etc.

Worse one I've seen yet is the Zimbabwe bowler losing 4 teeth to the drive back on his face. Ouch!

Big loss! He has been very steady in this and the last test, and looked ready to break through in tests. Unfortunately we will be without him for the second innings as well but hopefully he is not needed. Only consolation for the next test match is that we have Fakhar warming the bench.

    I hope he does.

The worst i have seen was that Simon Jones injury on the very first day of 02-03 Ashes, at Brisbane.
He slides to stop a boundary, his leg gets caught in the ground and is broken. Nasty, nasty injury.

Sad but it’s part and parcel of the game.

The bad thing is it finally looked like he was coming into his own. A hundred here could have boosted his test career. Shai Hope had a poor start to his test career but he turned it around in Lords. I had a feeling this would be Babar’s breakthrough series, and the signs were looking good, but sadly, not to be.

I actually had a feeling Babar would do a Shai Hope but that isn’t happening now.

    Hope he recovers well...

But on the bright side, at least his average will improve by staying not out

    Are you kidding?
This is Pakistan cricket administration we are talking about. When they have someone in their cross hairs, they don't let them into the team.
Just search Younus Ahmed and Qasim Umer.

Injured Babar Azam all set to return home today

Pakistan batsman Babar Azam, who has been ruled out from England Test series due to injury, will be returning to home today (Tuesday).

The batsman will be returning via a connected flight from Heathrow to Dubai to Lahore. Babar was ruled out of the remainder of the Test series after fracturing his forearm following the blow he took from Ben Stokes on the second day at Lord’s.

Babar was on 68 when he was hit on his left arm – he was not wearing an arm guard – and after assessment in the middle he retired hurt. He did not go straight for an x-ray but did not return to bat for the remainder of day.

Cliff Deacon, the Pakistan physiotherapist, said an injury like Babar’s would see him out of action for around four to six weeks. “We decided we were going to do a precautionary x-ray at the end of the day’s play,” Deacon said.

Unfortunately, the x-ray confirmed there was a fracture. The fracture’s in the forearm, it’s one of the two bones in the forearm in the distal third of the arm, just above the wrist. That’s why he couldn’t hold his bat properly.”

The Pakistan management have decided not to call up a replacement batsman. The squad includes Usman Salahuddin, Fakhar Zaman and Sami Aslam as spare specialist batsmen.
