Hafeez is being given another chance. Hope he comes good this time.
Shoaib Akhtar should have been included though. Why bring him in for Asia Cup and then drop him. I'm happy for Fawad Alam but I hope Waqar Younis and Salman Butt will make him play in the eleven.

He is in the team! Shoaib Mirza is not in the team. I am so happy that damad and Mirza are both dropped. With this team, I'd be surprised if we lose even a single T20 or ODI.

well it's quite a reasonable team i think fawad and hafeez are good inclusions but lots of qustn marks on shazaib hasan guy is only good for t20 or teams like bangladesh i dont see him in the 11 i am sure management will go for akmal nd butt combination in ODIs well overall team is well balanced

How does Hafeez always find a way back into the side?

Otherwise, it's a decent squad. Jury is still out on Azhar Ali and whether he can play in the ODI format but I think the selectors have got carried away with one innings he has played. I wouldn't of had him in the ODI squad but now he's in, we'll have to see how he goes.

The only changes I would have made is taking out Hafeez for Malik or YK and Azhar for Arafat.

Other than that, it's a decent squad and hopefully the players can perform and repay the faith shown in them by the management.

Hafeez's inclusion is mind boggling. Don't know what he did to earn a call-up!
Dropping Malik is a good decision I'd say. Although he is a useful ODI player, but his current form is not too impressive.
Not too impressed by Azhar Ali's inclusion in the ODI team..though i hope he proves his selection right.

And I'm happy for Fawad. :D Hopefully, he'll get a spot in the playing 11 and prove himself!

When Hafeez came to know that Mirza's PPP contact put pressure on Jahaaz Butt to have Mirza included in the team, he went to his PPP budy and ...... now Hafeez is in the team.

What has Mirza done in last 9 ODIs since his 100 against India?

Which domestic league are you talking about?
Hafeez got dropped after the T20 WC. Wasn't selected for the Asia Cup.

And there was no domestic tournament between the T20 WC and the time of selection for the ODI series against England! Where did he perform well to earn a recall?

RBS Pentangular Cup-351 runs in 5 games.
Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 692 runs in in 10 games aveerage of 40.

In both tornaments he was the best opener after shazaib hasan.

i dont really want him in the team, but still he did good in domestic so lets see, what he does.

    Only if hameed performed good:(.

Malik shpould have been given a chance in ODI. He is useful player in ODI and until MR bafoon Butt is sacked we will continue to miss Younis Khan

After those good tournaments, he went for the T20 WC and failed miserably there! And he's not a 'new' player that you want to see "what he does"!

Bottomline is that he has failed consistently at the international level.

I would have preferred a youngster instead of Hafeez.. We have to build a team for the WC 2011.. And it's about time we start doing that!
I don't see Hafeez with any role at the WC!

BUT, now that he's selected.. I hope he performs well.. I don't think he'll get many games though.

yeah i also wanted misbah, but hafeez is in as a back opener if shazaib fails, pak has to look for another opener who can play with salman butt

Kamran is at a vvery risky position rite now, he can be kicked out any time, pak still dosnt have an opener to bat with butt, we dont ahve any back up.

I may doubt his ability as a wicket keeper, but i surely dont doubt his ability as a batsman. We need a keeper/batsman/opener to allow flexibility in the side. I think Kamran can do it. There are lots of ODIs coming up for him to regain form especially in the limited overs game! Kamran is our Gilchrist!

Looks at Hafeez's stats. It only happens in country like Pakistan where this kind of a selection can happen

I'm not taking anything away from Azhar. He definitely played very well at The Oval.
But I honestly believe that his style of batting is more suited to test cricket than limited overs cricket. (I hope he proves me wrong though.)
As far as Asad Shafiq is concerned, dropping him after just 1 match is sheer injustice to him.
