54 invaluable runs and (4-45) it was Riaz who won it for Pakistan.Sticking it out courageously with his Captain who needed support to get Pakistan to a competitive score. He always had the talent with the bat but needed a signature inning. This was it. His captain at Kent,Rob Key, was impressed by his commitment to work on his batting at his stint in County Cricket.

Pace induces mistakes.Pace induces edges. More importantly, Pace induces wickets.Wahab is the only X-factor bowler in the attack as he can get wickets at any stage. He has put on more pace which is helping him succeed in these conditions.

Riaz is integral now as he's the only one offering balance as Lala is inconsistent and struggling(much like his career) with bat and ball! Riaz is needed to bat sensibly all the time as Pakistan have a massive tail and are horribly unbalanced.

Riaz became the first Pakistani to score a fifty and take four wickets in the same World Cup match - and only the eighth cricketer to achieve the feat.

Seems like Pakistan has finally found another player with the X factor.

However we shouldn't look into this inning of Wahab too much.

Very good performance by him and I am impressed by the effort he puts in. We need such players in the team who have passion for the game & country. Hope he can become a consistent all rounder for Pakistan. We desperately need a fast bowling all rounder like the old days of Imran Khan, Wasim, Razzaq & Azhar Mahmoud.

Good performance, but any other time, it would just be called a minnow bashing performance.

    This was only Zimbabwe.

    Let's keep some perspective

Now if only he can get the ball to come back in to the right hander but some say that his action won't allow him to?

Wahab single handedly saved Pakistan from the embarrassment I predicted. Who thought he had a 50 in him. Showed others how to bat.

He has shown the potential to bat and bowl well. Signs are there for a long career as an all rounder ala Afridi based totally on potential.
Can't read too much in to one innings alone but he's fast becoming a crunch player for Pakistan and an important LOI cricketer

Wahab has pace, and we definitely need it, but he will continue to be mediocre unless he sorts that wrist position out and starts swinging the ball

Ok. It was a great and much needed performance and i hope he keeps it but lets take it easy. We always hype people up after one or two performances. wahab has looked good these past few months so i hope he can keep it up consistently. A 145kph first change bowler who can get wickets and can bat is a very good option.

    His wrist position.

    Following is a quote from Waqar Younis in an interview to Cricinfo in 2012;

"What is the appropriate wrist position?

The fingers should be right behind the ball. When the ball comes out of the hand, the seam should be upright. For that your wrist needs to be straight at the point of release. If it is not straight, it will stop swinging. You might be able to bowl quick but it will be up and down.

    Can you give an example?

Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz is a good example of a bad wrist position. His wrist breaks at the time of delivery. He is a good case of other things not being in order, due to which his wrist breaks. At the crease he is not balanced and then he has to push the ball really hard. Then his head falls and the wrist breaks. Your body position at the crease while you are delivering the ball needs to be correct."

Him and Starc have probably been the quickest in the tourney.

Obviously Wahab's been recorded quicker, but the most pleasing part is how they've managed to maintain control at that pace since they both were accussed of waywardness (rightfully so, as they were), especially Wahab.

He should be fine, In Shaa Allah.

He has 5 days to the Australia match, just needs to watch his workload in training sessions and all will be fine.

It wasn't serious otherwise there'd have been mentions of it somewhere.
