was sensational today, amazed how he was making the ball talk like that...swing, seam, over the wicket, round the wicket, you name it, he had it.

Amir was the golden boy of Pak cricket. There will never another Amir.

He could bowl 90mph and make the bowl talk at a young age.

Junaid is good..dnt get me wrong but hes not worthy lacing Amirs shoes in terms of bowling.

Imran Khan, Wasim..both said that Amir is the greatest bowler they have seen for his age.

    Tho, Junaid is more honest.

Like I said - I'm not a fan of comparing players with another either but the guy said it himself he wants to fill Amir's void which is the only reason why I bought it up :)

I'm sorry but you are not the one to say who is the worst Muslim in the last 1400 years. I could be the worst in-front of the Almighty, Let him be the judge and please keep this to Cricket. I'm not a perfect Muslim myself so I can't be talking about Islam in such a manner but I can say that we shouldn't ever label someone as a Worst Muslim.

I did not say anything about Islam, so you don't need to defend Islam or make me look like as if I am saying anything against Islam. Islam is not OBL

It was a brilliant spell MashaAllah and also I should say that Junaid has proven me wrong this tour, very clever bowler. I think some people have exaggerated it but then again maybe I'm just given to understatement, anyway it really ewas a brilliant spell and I don't want to take anythiung away from Junaid.

JK is an excellent prospect for us. Iv always liked the kid from his debut and can't wait to see him on pitches that will have more assistance for the bowlers. There is light at the end of the tunnel after all :)

If Junaid can improve his fitness and his pace I am sure he will be better bowler than Amir in future. Amir was also an ordinary bowler in his initial few series. Junaid had got whatever it takes to be a fine bowler on International scene.

Yes, Junaid got another 5-fer! [Forgive my lateness, I wasn't watching the game just checked the score now]. Finally, what I wanted to happen in the game has happened :

I'm really happy that he is, finally, proving all those who thought he didn't have it in him wrong [I wouldn't call them haters yet. Everyone has their opinions and they had theirs regarding him]. Seriously, he's been really good recently. I can't comment on today's play, but yesterday his bowling had it all. He let his bowling do all the talking. He was swinging it, seaming it and what not - it was truly a sight to cherish, especially since we've not been able to witness such great fast bowling from our side, recently.

It is good to see that his doubters are now changing their minds about him. I remember the time when he first started and had only played a handful of games, people were calling for his head and apparently even "Cheema was a better bowler than Junaid". But I knew he could do it, because I had been following his performances in domestic and knew he is one of those hard working lads. He literally only had 3/4 people who used to support him. It feels good when one lets the performance do the talking.

However, one thing that still needs improvement on is his short ball. In the series vs England, recently, KP was dispatching his short balls to the boundary ever so often, and you would expect any good batsman to do so. But he does have time on his side to get the minor issues sorted.

If being "less talented" but a "hard worker" gets results like this then I'll happily take it. He has 3 five wicket hauls already in a mere 7 test matches. Junaid truly does have the ingredients to become a more than useful bowler for us.

Yeh, I guess so. But I only gave that as an example. Also, IIRC KP wasn't hitting him on the other balls it was mainly on the shorter ones. Overall, his shorter ball doesn't seem to trouble batsmen, and that's something that he can work on to enhance his bowling.

5? I think that's exaggeration, lol. There were just a handful of people who used to support him really. But at least they have got the assurance now that he has proved them wrong.

But people comparing him to Cheema was literally insane.

have always liked Junaid Khan and i've said previously i expect him to become a better bowler than Gul, seaming wicket or not he has out performed the more experienced Umar Gul. He is only 22 and is learning fast and improving aswell what more can you ask? my only concern is he has already suffered a few injuries so comes across as being a little frail.

Still needs to improve his pace, won't trouble batsmen on flattish wickets by bowling at 130 clicks.

Just needs to improve his fitness as he is prone to getting injured.

I am still not convinced that bowling at 130km/h is going to trouble good batsmen on relatively flatter decks. There are very few bowlers who can get away with bowling at that pace in test cricket.

True he needs to work on his pace. In the shorter formats he has bowled at late 80s and even early 90s mph so it's not as if he is physically incapable of it but he needs to increase his average speed by 5mph or so in test cricket.

However if I show you these two games....

    http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/530424.html
    http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/562445.html

You can see he got 5 for 38 and 5 for 73 on very flat tracks.

At the end of the day, almost every bowler in the world will struggle to trouble good batsman on flat tracks. A bowler who consistently does that is in the same league as Waqar Younis, Glen McGrath, Wasim Akram etc and if Junaid ends up that good then we really are blessed.
