After the collapse of Setanta and the lack of interest about the IPL in the UK it seems that no-one was interested in broadcasting the IPL. Certainly not on a paid channel.

In fact Modi had to give it away free on a youtube channel but all that's changed now. He managed to strike a last minute deal with ITV for them to show the event on one of their digital channels.

I wonder how much it cost Modi to convince ITV to take the event on because there's a hell of a lot of matches and ITV will be dedicating a lot of broadcasting time to showing an event which may end up being watched by one man and his dog.

Still despite the short term losses Modi is making by (probably) paying ITV to show the IPL, if he can get enough people hooked then he could be in a position to bargain in future seasons.

Let's see how this plays out for Modi and the IPL.

dont worry enough Indian fans will have their panties in a bunch to catch the IPL lolz... to them its their NHL/NBA/MLB/NFL etc etc... they will watch it none the less. but sooner or later i can see two things happening either T20 takes cricket by the horns, or if the icc continues to keep a lid on it, than a slow death of the game... the same passion isnt there for the game anymore just like it was after 1999 WC (although that was more to do with Pak's failure/Match fixing scandals) but now its overall cricket itself.

I Know Sky Sports will be showing the World Cup but its sumthin like £28+

Zee Cafe will be showing for £13 With one of £12 fee (Hindi Commentary)

PC Live Streaming ive been happy with the quality of streaming coming out of the Pak Newzealand games my only concern is once world cup kicks off will the stream quality be still gd and the availabilities of it also.

I think Zee cafe might be my destination

I also use cricklinx, they are top notch in stream quality and it is comparatively not expensive. They have hd at 1200Kbps and are now even trying out super hd at 3000kbps. I don't think anyone else even comes close to them.

If you subscribe e.g. 6 months, then you can watch ALL cricket during that period and are not limited to specific countries or tours.

hmm, true, u can also use discount codes when u buy a certain type of membership. just need to find them.

the world cup has a slightly higher different price, so is it worth paying for cricklinks where you can watch replays aswell, or is it worth watching peacefully at home. ??

Thank God it is not on Zee Cafe/Coffee or some other 3rd rate Asian channel with ads every 3 balls.

Eurosport is free if you have Sky Sports, £1 if you do not.

Just seen the advert. They seem to have improved over time BUT still want to bombard us with the claim adverts (not as frequent as before)

If anyone has info for other countries and broadcasters for the series then please share in this thread for the benefit of others.

:shrug get ready folks, for the ad by ad coverage of geo... oh and don't forget the own tareef they would be doing on tv.....

LAHORE, Sept 5: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sold TV rights of the home series against South Africa and Sri Lanka scheduled to be held in the UAE with only two bidders emerging for both the series. Each bidder got a series apiece.
Both the series will be held at neutral venues of the UAE.
According to reports, a local sports channel having no experience in covering any international cricket series has been sold the TV rights of the series against Sri Lanka which contains Test, ODI and T20 matches scheduled to start in December.
Before facing Sri Lanka in the UAE, Pakistan will also host South Africa in the desert state in October and November which broadcast rights have been given to a Dubai-based channel owned by an Indian.
There are also chances that the bidders might not have to haggle with the PCB since there were only two bidders in the race with the country’s cricket regulatory body having almost no option to go for a high bid.
Hopefully, PCB caretaker chairman Najam Sethi, who also happens to be an employee of the local TV channel, has not favoured his organisation while selling it TV rights.
Nonetheless, the PCB will have to clarify its position with regard to the sale of TV rights to Sethi’s organisation.
It is important to be noted that when Sethi was appointed as interim PCB chairman by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, critics expressed apprehension that his appointment was made to favour the local TV channel in getting media rights as the same channel failed to buy TV rights during the last PPP government.

Get ready for Kurleez destroying the screen. Get ready for their self congratulating coverage of being the official broadcasters. Get ready for losing the first and last ball, and in some cases, even the 2nd one. Get ready for substandard commentators

bus dua karo cameray aisay khareed lain geo super walay jis main kuch nazar aata ho :D

i guess we're overrating geo's dumbness a little!! since its an international series, they'll be making loads of money, hence would get some decent commies on board. I'm sure things won't turn out to be as bad as we're thinking right now.

Hotspot is a must and they'd need to buy cameras for that too :rofl

aus-TAIL-ia walay yahya bhe hon gay :D
