Hate the darn things, but sadly these are mandatory at my work place. Pretty sure they represent collars / leash for corporate slaves that we are.

I hate ties. It's basically just an upside down noose that they can hang you from when your usefulness has ended.

An old-fashioned heavy tie in the morning can ruin one's entire day.

Haven't met a man who actually likes wearing ties. Dunno who invented it but to me it seems like something the British would invent.

I have sympathy with those who have to wear ties, poly pants and shirts at the office.

hate wearing them love buying them, have a drawer full in all sorts of colours, have to wear one at work so try to make the best of a bad situation.

also like wearing bright socks, work wear is so dull, its nice to add colour wherever possible

Barely notice when I'm wearing one. I think it's mostly fat guys who perpetuate the hate.

Used to wear it until 2012 but then started to find it quite out of fashion and started to wear blazers instead.

Don't think tie adds any value to everyday work attire unless you have to go for some high profile meeting or event.

They're sort of in the way when you're trying to work.

They can sometimes look good though.

I don't mind wearing a tie. Then again, I don't have to wear one on a daily basis, so maybe if it was something I had to do more regularly, I wouldn't enjoy as much.

I don't wear them that often, but neck ties do look nice. Can't say much about working in one.

I am not fat but I hate wearing it. Find it to be inconvenient and serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

Yes, nothing better than the feeling of a neck tie. You look smart and active

Sadly, our University has made ties non-mandatory, though I still wear them just because I love them so much.

Prefer open collar but some days i just feel like wearing a tie into the office. Also weirdly enough, i used to hate slim/skinny ties (cant get a good knot), prefer them now compared to 'normal' ties.

Have to obviously wear a tie when im in court though.

Thankfully the boss doesnt force us to wear a tie around the office but on the flip side, cant wear grandad collar shirts in case you have to suddenly go to court. Its 2016 and you cant wear grandad collar shirts in court, terrible :smh

Yeah i think it was us, ties were originally used as 'buttons' to 'tie' your shirt together (before buttons were invented).

Wearing a tie was mandatory in my school, college and then the audit firm I worked and it becomes too annoying during hot summers in Pakistan.
