The guy keeps making continuous comebacks from injuries or poor form but each time we see the same Gul turn up, one who performs once every 4/5 games and gets hammered the rest of times. With Talha making his debut and doing so well and outshining both Juanid and Gul it makes me think is Gul really one of the better bowlers from Pak? There must be other pacers who have better control or can swing, bowl faster?

No, its time to move forward. He wont be effective in the 2015 world cup, and thats what we need to look forward to. This Talha seems to have potential, he needs to play ahead of Gul now.

I am also not sold on Junaid.

Most of our players are inconsistent but the biggest issue with Gul is that he will completely change the momentum of game with Gul poor spell of 2/3 overs..like he has done on most occasions.

Otherwise except Misbah and Ajmal all of them are inconsistent.

Gul continously bowled short, but what bothered me the most is how he showed his frustration on the field. Unless you can comeback like Steyn, never let the batsmen see you get angry

At best, he can be used as a 3rd pacer on seaming tracks.

He takes wickets. He get smacked for boundaries. Today took the key wicket of Kohli. Hell yes he deserves a place in the team.

He's past his sell by date and has lost his speed which he needs as he does not move the ball! Zia-Ul-Haq is better than him now which shows Gul's decline

He needs to regain his death over form that he had a few years back with those yorkers. Without that, he doesn't provide much to remain in the lineup.

Talha got hammered against Bangladesh. The fact is Gul will be handy with reverse swing but he just lost it last one year. He was awesome from 09-12.

Mark Ealham would be proud of his bowling after watching Gul bowl.

Gul is yet another example of a wasted talent. Gul was never an opening bowler, he was generally a first change bowler, he should have been used in the middle overs and the death, which he was, however, opening with him was a huge mistake, when he gets smacked he loses his rhythm rendering him ineffective during the crucial overs. In his current form he doesn't merit a place in the team.

It's clear that Gul still isn't entirely match fit. You can see that by the way he walks back to his run up, so his injury is still hindering him somewhat.

Having said that, I think he still has a role to play in the ODI team, at least in the Asia Cup final. By playing him now, it will ensure that he gets used to the requirements of international cricket sooner than if he's simply dispatched back to domestic and a fit and firing Gul can be the key for Pakistan's success in the World Cup.

Thinking ahead is not always about getting new players in, sometimes you just need to get your already experienced players back to their peak performance levels.

-gul has had his days he's finished now and is a cancer to the team. Should never play for Pakistan again. He's even lost his best weapon the yorker but he's a 'bang it in and get smashed' baller now. Get rid of him simple!

he had a good spell of death bowling in his career which makes a lot of people think he was good at handling pressure but i wouldnt agree, whenever we've needed him to stand up he's gone missing.

currently we need that bit of experience he has, he needs to be used better but also needs to use his head as to what he should be bowling and when.

Yes he is disappointing continuously. He ain't as effective in death over as he used to be. He better be replaced by Irfan as he gets fit

At the moment he is definitely dissapointing but he takes wickets early in the game and is back after a long injury so just give him time and dont drop him, he will perform!

I think its about time Gul was rested and someone else given a go in ODI's and T20's. I would still keep him for tests.

he is injured atm so thats why his bowling at the death has been lacking. Hope to see him make a full recovery so he will be at his best in the T20WC where he is no 1.

Gul is happened to be expensive because he has forgotten his in-swing yorkers....
He needs to focus on yorkers in the depth overs...

I think Gul is more effective in T20 cricket. He has not been quite effective in ODIs lately. But I think its too early to say that he should not be a part of WC 2015. Only if he could find his yorkers back, he can be really effective in death overs.

Gul is a very good bowler but since his injuries he has gone worse. Once he was our best death bowler. Now he is the worst :(
