Realistically, Azhar needs to be dropped & replaced immediately but there is nobody to replace him in the squad.

 

I think maybe rest Nasim for the next game. He is only 17 and his workload needs to be managed.

A must win for Pakistan and they have to play their best players for a crack at levelling the series especially now with Stokes out of the remaining 2 tests.

 

We were always going to struggle at Rose Bowl. Losing last test will just exacerbate this.

Dont expect much from Pakistan, regardless of the team.

 

Yes exactly. I would play Wahab or Sohail Khan in his place. Wahab is the only one in Pakistan squad to bowl reverse swing.

 

I would replace Shaheen with Usman or Sohail Khan for the next game. Shadab for Yasir as the main spinner. Fawad to play as well. Drop both Azhar and Asad, if they both play then it is series over for us.

 

Biggest issue is the batting. Too many passengers with no replacements in the squad available.

There is no captaincy material in the team to begin with.

If you truly want to groom a young captain who is independent and can freely implement his own ideas and strategies then YOU MUST SACK MISBAH and keep him one million miles away from the team.

 

Captaincy material Sarfraz ke ilawa koi nahi. Babar Azam ko groom hone mein time lage ga. Azhar is a nice guy but is very mature so he can do captaincy as a stop gap arrangement he is not a permanent solution. Best solution yehi hai ke Sarfraz ko hi captain rakhein teenon formats mein... he is the best choice. Babar Azam ko saath saath groom karein..

Agree he is a tulla,. I played good 4-5 years of cricket alongwith him during my teenage. Difference between him and me was that of Misbah and him. He was illiterate type, street smart type of guy whereas i was the responsible one, i focused on my education cus i knew only handful out of a crore population make it to Pakistani team and Sarfraz made it cus he had the support of his mahajir base in Bufferzone and also his Karachi lobby which constantly used to promote him. You may be a good player but without promotion, you cant get a chance, he had lot of supporters and promoters who spoke for him to get him in the team.
He maybe a tulla, indisciplined but he is similar to Moeen Khan who was the same but a little bit more educated than him... he has a similar attitude as him... actually Sarfraz modeled his cricket on Moeen. He is also not a permanent choice. We need somebody like Misbah and we dont have anyone ready at the moment. Only other choices are current captains Azhar and Babar. Babar needs time to develop into a finished product as a captain, needs grooming under someone like Sarfraz whereas Azhar is too much of a nice guy similar to Mohd Yousuf. Fawad Alam can become an option provided he breaks into the team big time like Misbah did in 2007.. Asad Shafiq we never backed and never will, is a silent achiever and works well in silence..

 

I would LOVE to see Fawad get a game but the only way that happens is by dropping Shadab - which will be unfortunate since he provides an extra gear in our batting line up which is much needed - or doing something drastic with the team selection/batting order - which our management will never risk doing, unfortunately.

Mind you - if it's not a spinning pitch you cannot justify playing 2 spinners in which case it's pretty hard to justify picking Sahadb purely as a batsman or picking Shadab over Yasir after Yasir bowled his heart out and picked up 8 wickets in the last match.

 

Fawad's career has been finished. Misbah included him in the team due to a lot of pressure from press.
Even Rasheed Lateef testified this today.

 

So you are saying if you had continued playing cricket, in you we would've gotten a new Misbah to lead the team?

Sarfraz i would say is a good captain not a good leader.. leaders Imran Khan, Inzamam aur Misbah the... A leader cares for his players so much, doesnt shout at them all the time, inspires them and leads from the front whereas Captain just knows how to get the job done.. I have studied some management sciences too according to which there are different types of leaders,,, some are too much concerned about their people that they are not as much concerned about the task and so on,,, some are task oriented who dont get along with people well... and vice versa...
You need to be a good mix between task oriented and people oriented to be successful..
