What is his ethnic make up? Somebody on my friends list just said that "a Pakistani dropped South Africa the world cup followed by how ironic"

Thought he was of Indian origin

Nope, a SC name. Arabs rarely have the Uddin names, desi Muslims often do.

It's Farhan Baharuddin but cos of South Africa background, spelt differently a bit like Dutch may spell it. Similar to the Frenchman Zinedin Zidane (Zainuddin Zaidan)

India/Pakistan either. South Asian South Africans have mostly lived there since before Partition so it could be from anywhere in subcontinent, but I would probably guess somewhere like Lucknow maybe?

Could be Persian. Or even mixed (Indian and black). Just spit-balling here, no expert in ethnicity.

He is of Malay descent ; better known as Cape Malay. He represented the South African Malays in a cricket tournament organized by the Malaysian Malays Cricket Association sometime in 2007 or 2008, if I am not mistaken.
