English cricketers operating as overseas players at the Pakistan Super League were last night preparing to make hasty exits from the Twenty20 tournament.

Amid collective concerns about getting stuck abroad as the coronavirus pandemic takes hold across the globe, the PSL were understood to be organising flights back to the UK for the likes of the World Cup-winning trio Jason Roy, Moeen Ali and James Vince plus other England internationals such as Tom Banton, Alex Hales and Chris Jordan.

The PSL, held across the cities of Karachi and Lahore, still has 10 days left to run but all 15 Englishmen participating could be back home by Saturday.

The competition will continue without them, with matches played behind closed doors, which is a prospect facing the Indian Premier League should it go ahead later this month.

This is understandable and they are well within their rights to leave. With all these lock downs and travel bans they would not want to be stuck somewhere away from their country.

There are certain "reports" suggesting that even some local players may pull out.

Understandable. This virus has taken over the world and is spreading like wild fire. Precautions are needed.

Ironically, English players might be better off staying in Pakistan if they want to avoid the virus than to return to England :D

probably the situation in Pakistan is much worse as there is no proper awareness, testing, diagnosis, data collection and reporting in an immensely crowded urban and sub urban areas.

A lot of them have stayed.

Like @Passionate Pakistani stated there main concern would be getting locked down in the country.
