It has come down to this. We have somehow started producing 'batsmen' even below the calibre of Hafeez.

I'd get him back and bat at 4 in both ODI and T20I. His innings did make a difference in ODIs, now that you look back.

Hafeez is also 38 and will fail a lot more than he will perform. It's too late to make changes now so he should be in the WC team along with Malik. But we have to discard both of them and move on right after the WC. Invest in young batsmen and find another couple of solid players to go along with Babar.

We'll need to really go scouting in the domestic circuit to bring deserving batsmen into the team. The problem is on easy UAE tours, Azhar, Asad, Hafeez, Malik will make sure they get max opportunity first.

Hafeez is at a completely level to these guys. He is the only one who steps up against the big sides.

Whether its in the game against ENG and India in the CT
or against NZ in NZ at the start of last year
or against SA in the ODIs couple of weeks back

We don't have any other match winner like him.

Hafeez will be vital in the WC. We just don’t have any quality batsmen on the bench.

@Energy Hafeez is a priceless gold for Pakistan. his unavailability shows that. When he leaves we will have another big hole to fill in

We're already feeling it. Can't believe Talat was playing and missing after spending time on the crease since the start of the innings. That was the difference in the end and it is not a sign of a No.3 batsman.

He looks like priceless gold, that gleams and shimmers in a shop window but when subjected to a Nitric Acid or Magnetic testing we realise that the gold is fake.
