Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has brushed aside former captain Waqar Younis’ advice regarding retirement from international cricket.

According to Daily Express, Hafeez wants to continue representing the country and has notified the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of his intentions.

Sources have revealed that the all-rounder was unhappy about his place in the batting order in the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup. He had also communicated his desire to open against Bangladesh, however, the management did not accept this request.

All-rounder Shoaib Malik recently retired from One-day International (ODI) cricket, after Pakistan’s early exit from the 2019 World Cup. Waqar advised Hafeez to follow a similar path and bring the curtain down on his career. However the all-rounder does not agree with the legendary pacer’s advice.

The all-rounder has informed the coaching staff and senior management that he is completely fit and satisfied with his recent performances and, hence, wants to continue representing his country. The decision about Hafeez’s inclusion, however, rests with the selection committee.

Sources further said that the all-rounder blames changes in the batting order for his inconsistent performances.

It should be noted that Hafeez made 253 runs in eight matches with an average of 31.62, during the mega event. He scored his only half-century against England, 84, which played a crucial role in Pakistan’s victory.

The 38-year-old announced his retirement from Test cricket, last year in December. He has told the PCB that he would retire from ODI’s when he feels a better player is available for the team. Hafeez does not believe that any player from the current squad is ready to take his place.

Hafeez doesn't have to retire, he must be thrown out, never to be selected ever again.

He should be kicked out and never picked in the team. He should not retire for all we care.

i back Hafeez on this, he's a senior experienced player. He shouldn't be thrown around in the batting positions.

That is why now I think Sarfraz made a brilliant move of not changing his position from number 4 throughout the World Cup. Guess what he is still whining. Had Sarfraz moved him around and if he had failed then he would have had something to convince his sympathizers. Not anymore.

Son of a gun, this was my fear and I opened a thread on this earlier that there is nothing left for him in ODI cricket anymore. Whats the point in dragging it any further? What will and could you accomplish Hackfeez?

No wonder our players are utter greedy and want to milk the cow as long as they can. These douchebag's wouldn't retire with some dignity, they needs to be booted out.

LOL at this statement, shows his mindset and tells how good he is in making excuses for his short comings. Even though he has been batting on no.4 from ages.

Would be awesome to bring in a new number in his place and let Haris take the 4 spot.

Can't believe this guy is complaining about batting order. Back to his old tricks.

A big lol at the cricket board for seeking Hafeez' permission before taking a decision.

If he still get selected in onedayer and plays for Pak for a year or two, than Pak team will never improve. For how long are we going to ignore deserving youngsters in Rizwan, abid,Saud Shakeel and others to accommodate buzurg like Hafeez?
