    What is this??

Sarfraz practicing on a slab. This is so 80s. Even in the 80s they used more effective methods. Now you have bowling machines, swing balls, synthetic pitches etc, etc. Some bowling machines imitate the best bowlers ever. So why?? Why don't the PCB invest in the latest equipment? I've seen only one bowling machine in NCA in photos since 2014. Why do players practice like club cricketers? In England even club cricketers are exposed to bowling machines. This is the reason why we get shown up in SA, Australia, New Zealand and England.

Shan Masood's success in SA was mainly due to his work done on the bowling machine.

Calm down man. So many emotions on the forum of late. You are judging based on one pic?

No I'm not judging based on one photo. I know this is outdoor but in the indoor NCA they have only one bowling machine and that's been there since 2014. I've seen photos of NCA training camps for some time now. In nets you will see national bowlers bowling to batsman. There is only one bowling machine In the middle. A few people who have used the NCA have also stated this - that you do not get to use the bowling machine facilities. Indoor NCA facilitiy has 5 nets. During a training camp atleast three nets should have bowling machines not one. Its common see this for any English county team. Show me one photo in which you have seen more than one machine in use at NCA. These are basic equipment.

Babar was practicing on bowling machine for Somerset.

This is what the NCA should look like:

This is how the NCA is really like:

There is also a vid. It's from the pre world cup camp at the NCA. Shadab and Hassan were batting on the lone bowling machine.

You see the NCA has one bowling machine, at a max maybe two but considering there is no other facility like the NCA in Pakistan it's disappointing. The bowling machine can give you an experience of unplayable bowling. If not this then at least go for difficult training. Get some young fast bowlers to bowl from 14-15 yards or use wet tennis balls and get someone to serve random lengths.

Advanced bowling machines can notch up to about 95-100 mph. Not only that but you can train against deadly swing. Before the England and New Zealand match in the 2015 world cup Sky Sports did a full demo in the zone on a preview show. They set the bowling machine to mimic Trent Boult on a good day when he gets boomerang swing.

Better record in SA than Younis, Anwar, Misbah, Yusuf, Inzamam, Shafiq, Azhar. Not bad hey. Good for your standards.

No high performance culture in Pakistan. Perhaps it's insecurity. Players don't want to be made to look like a fool on the bowling machine. Half an hour against a bowling machine which has the ability to bowl swinging deliveries at 90 mph would improve our batsman's ability. It can be like facing Steyn in his pomp. If the cricketers made this a part of their routine we wouldn't see them getting exposed. Seriously it's embarrassing. Commentators of the opposition point this out and rightly so because it damages the game of cricket if you see no competition.

A week and a half into the camp and I haven't seen a single bowling machine session. Alright you get to face your own bowlers but they may not be coming flat out.

It costs real money to have full fledged academies in every city in Pakistan, to install a massive amount of modern equipment, bowling machines, providing the players with the best equipment, kit, facilities and the best coaches. The PCB finances have been badly squeezed in the absence of international cricket.

You can sympathize with the PCB and the domestic players. But no sympathy for the international players, they get paid handsomely enough to take care of their bills, to buy themselves whatever they need to take their games to the next level.

Absolutely zero excuse for our international cricketers to turn up to the field with paunches, for having such undisciplined unhealthy diets inspite of being informed numerous times by their coaches, trainers, nutritionists and for showing zero improvement in skill levels over time.

Unless you have a system which demands and rewards these things, players will be happy with the status quo and therefore be able to get away with these things

Yaar every club in England has two bowling machines.

PCB has a plan of six academies. How much will it cost to install 3 machines??? I'm not talking every town or city but why less resources for the top 20 cricketers?? Why do they have access to one machine??

PCB need to install atleast two machines in each of the six new high performance centres at the provincial level. Maximum it'll cost about £16,000. Add swing balls, fielding equipment, analysis program and end cost will be about 30-40 grand about 65 lacs but it's an investment worth making.

I've shown you the pics above. These are all the pictures from the NCA where you will see a bowling machine. I haven't seen more than one bowling machine in any pictures. Maximum we can say two but still that's not enough. In Karachi high performance centre there is not a single machine. So why is it called a high performance centre??

These are basic equipment. A ordinary bowler will not have the accuracy level, speed and swing that a bowling machine can generate. If you constantly play at 65-70% when you play someone at 85% you are not going to do well, if you practice for 92% and play 85% you will do better.
