Eng after day 2: 555/8 Did not expect this tbh. Root is on fire! However match will likely end a draw.
That's asking for way too much. I didn't expect this lineup to make 400+ let alone score at a quicker rate in India. The good thing is England have given themself a good chance of not losing this game and got enough on the board to play with. They also batted long enough to give India a tougher wicket to bat on potentially. I just hope England can get a positive result this game as overall I think India is superior at home so can't see them losing many tests
It's hard to argue against much of what you stated. So I tend to agree with your train of thoughts. However, when they were in such a comfortable position, they should've been confident enough to increase the run rate after reaching 450. I think Archer was their trump card as he can hit big and score some quick runs. But since he's got out on duck, perhaps Jimmy Anderson can try to slog and hit a few before the inning ends. Lets hope the surface has been roughed enough to create difficulty for the Indian batting line. Definitely supporting England to smack the crap out of them in their own backyard.
Yes in an ideal world they should have gone faster but equally as important is to bat long and give India the more difficult conditions to bat on when the pitch has broken up. I think the test has been perfect for England so far
India will survive it. Will end as a draw. Leech looks out of place. Bess will be handled too. Need Anderson, Stokes and Archer to step up
Anderson is a beast! Just keeps getting better with age. Lovely to see a guy entering his 40s and still having the love for the game to continue. Also, Pakistan fans are obsessed with age and have double standards. Always putting peforming Pakistani players under the microscope as soon as they hit 35. Recent example is Fawad Alam who people wrote off by saying he is too old now. Jimmy is a good example of longevity and to carry on if you have the skills and desire
