    Wsalam

Afridi is a very good leg-spinner, he has a lot of variations and, for a leggie, impressive control as well. Personally though I think he fires only a few times a year with those big five-wicket hauls--which is not to demean him, as leg-spinners are generally a little on-off--while Hafeez usually bowls in the Powerplays, rarely leaks runs and nearly always gets useful breakthroughs. I think both are very good accomplices to Ajmal but as far as reliability, which is the word here, goes I'd pick Hafeez--Afridi has more of a game-changing impact when he is on song

As for the bit about openers, I whole-heartedly agree. Imho Hafeez is not a consistent Test opener, and in fact in the limited-overs formats should be pushed down the lineup in favour of a specialist

^ To be fair, despite of being leg spinner, his deliveries are somehow 'off spinning deliveries'.

We can afford to try in powerplay now because the last powerplay starts in less than 10 overs which means no pressure on Afridi and Ajmal. Before Hafeez, it used to be Afridi - who utilized 2nd PowerPlay in absent of Hafeez. Afridi can do that again, and remember, especially in batsmen dominated era with deteriorated pitches, match winner should be appreciative. We have won the last ODI series that was Sri Lanka series at HOME (Pakistani version of Middle East) - fourth ODI that sealed the series in favor of Pakistan.

Despite of consistent performance from Hafeez, Pakistan still continue to struggle in ODI/T20 - referring the last two series. If Afridi performs, Pakistan wins, if Afridi doesn't, Pakistan doesn't win - regardless of the remaining of Pakistani bowling attack.

However, the role that Hafeez provides, can be easily fulfilled by Ajmal who can carry in PowerPlay and Death overs. It's time that we strengthen the batting line to support the bowling attack - rather than, undermine their contributing for not supporting them, for instance, failure to chase the lowest target.

Spinner will eat Hafeez alive, and there is the reason why he struggles to convert his mini start to big inning, and now, he is struggling, and it's time for Pakistan to consider specialist openers and concentrate on Ajmal-Afridi, and slowly integrate Raza Hassan and other bowlers in International level. Beside, it's time to move on, and better focus for the future of Pakistan cricket that Hafeez, Misbah, Afridi and Ajmal won't be starring in WC 2015, Allahu Alim!

I don't understand the 'intense dislike' for Hafeez. At the moment, he's going through a really bad patch of form with the bat. Some may say his good form last year was his purple patch and that now he's playing to his actual ability. That may or may not be the case. IMO he's better than what his recent scores suggest. But I don't think he's an opener, certainly not a test opener.

Regardless of his form or ability, he's a team player. Whether it be fielding, contributing to team discussions or bowling, you can count on him giving his 100% every game. He doesn't deserve 'intense dislike'.

I say intense dislike because I was the one who bashed Hafeez's technique even in his purple patch.

PP'ers used to bash me big time but now I think gradually people are understanding. :)

iZaman then shouldnae you "intensely dislike" whoever bashed you instead of Hafeez? I remember last year at least on 2-3 separate occasions when they didn't pick Hammad Azam some of his supporters spammed PP saying "why does the captain hate Hammad Azam" and taking personal shots at any teammate not named Hammad Azam", but that reflects on the fans, not on Hammad Azam

Rubbish attack? Lol you are trying your best to undermine his innings, that same "rubbish" attack tore apart our batting line-up in the last match.

what ever the wicket or bowling attack both openers have booked their selection for next ten test matches, wicket was so good, this test had been anywhere else instead of colombo it might have been case of Taufeeq umar or Hafeez been dropped.as it is they have done well in this test.

same bowling attack has not won its last 8 Tests series and 13 Test matches, so yes it is rubbish.
