Every time I watch the match or look at scores he's there hitting sixes. SR is always sky high. He gets his runs playing aggressively and gets out doing same. So is he another Afridi batting style kind of batsman?

I reckon he'll do better batting wise. Might not be so hyped and adored, but will do much better atleast in the batting department.

He has a limited range of strokes will need at least 15 years to reach where Afridi is and that is not possible in Australian Cricket unless you are in the class of Ponting etc.

People said the same about Corey that he was/is much better than Afridi but in reality he is no way near afridi.

He's definitely got the game for it.

He'll be closest thing to Afridi once Afridi retires, but there can only ever be one Shahid Khan Afridi.

he's a better batsman than afridi already really imo.. he won't add as much value to a side overall as afridi can though.

A hack gets worked out in 2/3 outings while Maxwell is still pummelling good bowlers after having played the game for more than 2 years. His fearlessness makes me call him an Aussie pathan, no wonder why he gets compared with Lala.

He needs to work on his bowling if he wants to be on the level of Afridi in terms of being called an all-rounder. With that said, I do believe Maxwell is a better batsman even though he occasionally gets out in the same way as Afridi. I do hope he performs because in T20, those are the players that really entertain.

In terms of hitting he's a lot better I think. In bowling Lala is way ahead

Better batsman but Afridi is the superior bowler and allrounder

Well both are all rounder, one has better batting and the other better bowler.

When Afridi started they called him the new Jayasuriya, But Afridi became Afridi. So lets let Maxwell be Maxwell. :D

Well.. Afridi is afridi. . You can not compare a potato to a tomato. Maxwell is talented imo but he does not add the charishma that afridi did. Like they say YOLO.. YOSAO You Only See Afridi Once.

I saw him for the first time in the Pak vs Aus match. He doesn't seem at all like our beloved Afridi. He wasn't trying to throw the kitchen sink at every delivery and looks more like a proper batsman than Afridi.

This is what I got from just one innings though.

I dont think Maxwell is going to average in the early 20s with the bat so he should be fine.

He is not a better batsman than Lala. lol

Afridi smashed great attacks back then and actually batted with brain.

Yes he has but you can count them on one hand, even if you've lost a fight with an axe. Maxwell may go the same way but if he wants to be a regular for Australia he'll have to do make more than 42 fifty plus scores in 350 innings with a career average of 23.

Not every team is as generous as Pakistan.

I don't think so. Aus has had many such players in the past like White who were good but no consistent enough.

Afridi was a much better hitter in his prime... He had more power, better hand-eye coordination... Maxwell however has the luxury to be part of an Aussie team which have lot of better players around Maxwell, which will give me the safety net against being dropped.
Afridi always had the sword hanging over his head, and that had lead him to play a confused role... He was always a hitter, and we wanted to make a Tendulkar out of him, which never worked. As long as Maxwell has the license to attack, he will be awesome...

Afridi in his prime was a bigger hitter for sure, though maxwell is more calculated in his approach. One thing i have seen in all his innings is that he has either got the slog over midwicket or the reverse sweep, hardly seen him play offside.
