Is this the most bizarre ODI innings ever?

TIL, India were chasing 257 in ODI match vs West Indies. They were 195-5 in 41 overs, needing 63 to win from 54 balls. Manoj Prabhakar was batting on 80 or 90 odd, and Nayan Mongia joined him. For some reason, they pulled the shutter down and made 16 runs from next 9 overs. Mongia made 4 from 21. Prabhakar made unbeaten 102 from 154, and India ended up at 211-5.

Match fixing is the most common theory to explain why this happened. But even with fixing, who would be THAT obvious?? To just let a chase go from a perfectly reasonable situation of needing 63 from 54 with 5 wickets in hand.

Inexplicably bizarre. First time I’ve ever heard of this game.

Can't not be fixing. Makes no sense. It's not even close.

I think back then match fixing used to affect the result of the match. Spot fixing has probably 0.01% affect on the result of a match.

It's open knowledge that this was match fixing. This match was one of the center points in 2000 when Azhar, Jadeja, Mongia among others were implicated for match fixing.

Sachin Tendulkar stopped speaking to both Prabhakar and Mongia after this match for a few days out of anger. It's well documented.

Azhar who sold off his country despite being the captain of his team on 3 different occasions. And when caught with his pants down, he tried playing the minority card thinking he'll get away with it. Only for the entire country to throw shoes at him and him having to apologize publicly for his statement.

Shocking. That Indian keeper at the start was worse than kamran.

Nayan Mongia had brilliant wicket keeping skills. He was infected with the bug called match fixing. That was a blatant example of deliberate match fixing.

It seems like match fixing on the scorecard. But we have to see how were the playing conditions? was the ball turning square as it often does in india. But still they lost no wickets which sounds extremely shady...

I agreed with you, why did you dislike my post? Because I labeled your post as abusive in another thread?
