Karachi Kings 111/9 from 20 overs (Bopara 37, Sami 5-9)
Islamabad United 115/1 from 14.2 overs (Haddin 52*, Smith 50*, Sohail Khan 1-22)

Having won the toss in the 2nd qualifying final of PSL, Misbah put the Kings batting lineup to a stern test. With a potent pace bowling attack consisting of Irfan, Sami, and Andre Russell, Islamabad United were able to exert pressure on Kings' top order right from the start.

Power play overs brought only 29 runs but more unfortunately Karachi had lost Rikki Wessels, Simmons, and ex-captain Shoaib Malik though it. After that, even the spin duo of Badree and Imran Khalid were able to bowl a very tight spell drying up runs from both ends. There was some relief for Karachi with a partnership of 49 runs between captain Bopara and Ten Doeschate. It was the 17th over with scoreboard showing only 86 runs when Misbah brought back his star bowler Sami who straight away removed the in-form Bopara who had scored 37 valuable runs off 36 balls for his side by then. Just a ball later Sami struck again dismissing Ten Doeschate who was caught behind trying to play a pull shot.

Karachi crawled and reached 100-run mark in the 19th over but Sami bowling his last over removed Imad Wasim and then Usama Mir on consecutive bowls to complete his 5-fer by giving away just 6 runs. Karachi eventually completed their innings with a meagre score of 111 for 9 wickets.

Chasing 112, United openers started cautiously but lost Sharjeel in the 4th over when Sohail Khan forced him to play a foul shot off his pads. Brad Haddin then joined Dwayne Smith and tackled the bowling quite easily until the 50-run mark was reached in 9th over.

Haddin pushed onto the gas after that and started finding the boundary quite regularly sparing no Karachi bowler. Smith also joined him in that acceleration and both batsmen picked up 14 runs from Bopara's first over. They were 81-1 from first 10 overs when Karachi had scored only 45/4 at the same stage of their innings. Haddin scored his consecutive half century of PSL from just 27 balls. Soon after Smith also hit a cracking four to reach his half century as Islamabad United chased down the target in 15th over having lost only a solitary wicket of Sharjeel Khan.

Mohammad Sami was deservingly judged the Man of the Match for his outstanding spell of fast bowling as United now prepare to clash with Peshawar Zalmi to claim a spot in the final of inaugural season of HBL PSL.
