Still no bowlers in the overall list from Pakistan but surely its only going to be a matter of time before Yasir Shah enters that list. 76 wickets in just 12 matches is phenomenal! Only 3 wickets away from Mushtaq Mohammed in 20th place in the Pakistani list.

Zulfi now has 51 wickets in test matches the same amount as Mohammed Amir/Wasim Raja/Shabbir Ahmed

Rahat Ali rises a few places and Shoaib Malik sneaks in to the top 50 in his final test match!

Amir should improve his strike rate. Very poor at the moment.

One interesting thing about Junaid's stats there compared with both Aamir and Wahab - although they have played more or less same number of tests and have similar bowling average, Junaid Khan has taken 5 five-wicket hauls in 22 tests.

Now what makes this more intriguing is that Junaid hardly looked like he was going through a purple patch like a Waqar Younis, but if anything he looked like he would only get better with time and improve.

Junaid had 5 five-wicket hauls from 22 matches, which means if he even did not improve much and continued taking his five-wicket hauls in tests at the same rate, and if you multiply that by 4 -- its possible he could end up with 20 five-wicket hauls from 88 test matches, which is the exact number of test matches Imran Khan played taking 23 five-wicket hauls.

Not that this makes Junaid the next Imran Khan, but just goes to show this kid definitely has potential -- and if he is able to get into a purple patch for a year or two, these figures would improve even further.

Yes - five-wicket hauls are not the only important measure of bowling, but look again at that list and look at the guys with the most 5-fers and tell me those weren't the same guys who were most likely to win you test matches regardless of the number of tests they played -- from Khan Mohammed and Fazal Mahmood, all the way to Imran, Qadir, Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain, Shoaib, Saeed Ajmal et al.

Just for the record, Junaid has 5 five-wicket hauls from his 22 test matches.

Mohammed Aamir and Wahab Riaz have a combined tally of 5 five-wicket hauls from an aggregate of 45 test matches.

But even they don't come close to the pace bowling duo of Umar Gul and Mohammed Sami, who from a combined 83 test matches could only deliver between them 6 five-wicket hauls.

And meanwhile back in the 50s and 60s, Fazal Mehmood single handedly took an impressive 13 five-wicket hauls from just 34 tests, plus 4 10-fers to go with it.

So Fazal Mehmood alone took more five-wicket hauls for Pakistan in test cricket from 34 test matches, than so far Aamir, Wahab, Umar Gul, Sami have done combined having played over 120 tests between them.

And that's before we even bring the 80s/90s era of Imran, Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib into the discussion of taking 5-wicket hauls.

This probably highlights what has been missing in Pakistan's fast bowling in the last 10 years or so, the lack of killer instinct and bite.

Opportunity for both Amir and Wahab to rise in that list too.
