I feel he’s performances go under the radar. He has been mocked for being a trundler & lucky etc etc. Here are the stats to date:

    Wkts: 50
    Avg: 17
    SR: 46

These are outstanding numbers. What stands out is he’s ability to bowl a nagging line & length & get purchase from phatta’s.

Great to see a cricketer justifying he’s domestic performances.

If he clicks in Australia and South Africa as well, especially Australia, then I ll rate him as our 2nd best ever Test bowler.

I wish domestic performers aren’t ignored in future. Feel for Sadaf and Fawad. Funnily enough Fawad still averages better than Asad in Test cricket, lol. Asad was supposed to take over from Misbah or YK, ha ha. But its good to see Haris showing who is the boss, as his domestic record was always better than Azhar and Asad, yet wasnt roped into the Test squad under Misbah instead of these two.

This talent or potential thing is highly overrated.

Domestic record is the standard. Period.

Why Aaron finch wear baggy green to spinners only?

Should wear baggy green vs Spin and against mark II spinner Abbas.

He is our primer pacer atm, specially with Amir went back, Hassan is out of form and I dont even know why Wahab got a recalled. What is his achievement in domestic whilst he was dropped?

Abbas has performed really well in ENG and also going good in UAE, however, I will hold my judgment until he players latter this year in SA.

However, very good TEST bowlers based on available options.

Also, since we're struggling to find a better partner for Abbas, I would like to see Junaid and Shaheen inducted for next TEST series, because Wahab hasn't done anything to keep his place.

He is much more than line and length. It is his seaming the ball and being an intelligent bowler that puts doubts in batsmen's minds and makes them play, otherwise batsmen could leave the ball all day long. Calling him a line/length bowler does disservice to his skill.

Imran Khan. But if Abbas takes more than 300 wickets, including a good record in Australia , then he ll take over from IK and become number 1.

Him and Asif had player together in domestic. I also heard that Asif doesn't rate much bowlers in domestic (most of them are crap anyways) but admires Abbas.

Abbas has been very good for us in past few series and seems like he's improving series by series. However, I wouldn't compare with one of the best in the game yet. I will hold my judgment until he plays at SA latter this year.

Comparing them is not really a good idea.
Their bowling style resemble each other a bit, but off the field, they are entirety different people. (God, i hope Abbas doesn't turn out to be a second Asif).

Now, Abbas needs to be his own man, so let him be.
He shouldn't be compared to anyone (and tied down by the expectations).

It's still early days for him.
Hopefully, a few years from now, we will be comparing him with McGrath or S Pollock, NOT Asif.

Abbas has proven himself now! He has performed in England but that was expected but he has performed against Aussies who are always tough whether its their A team B team or Z team!! Performing against Australians is never easy doesnt matter in which conditions you are facing them! They are not mentally fragile like English lot! They will keep fighting till the last ball of the fifth day like they did in previous test, they will sledge you!!

Skills alone are only gonna get you so far my friend....
You need ACTUAL brains to do MORE, which, Asif lacked, DEARLY...

And PM also thought that Manzoor Elihi was gonna make big....
    How did that turn out?

Indeed they are a TOUGH bunch of guys, ALWAYS have been. Will use EVERY tool at their disposal.
    But.......
I would still say that the sample rate is too low. Let him play against SA later this season, than we will see.
Not to mention, that NZ is no "easy pickings" either.

Asif ke talent mein aur uski skill mein koi doubt nahi hai his brain worked like a robot working over batsmen as a bowler! Only problem he had was a thug! Uski skill mein koi doubt nahi, problem sirf uski lalach mein hai and he had a corrupt mind that is the problem!

That is his problem, he doesn't need to try EVERYTHING. He just needs to relax, concentrate on the NEXT ball , not on his next match or career.
He is talented enough, it will come back to him. Like the CT final.
That Amir, was the pre-ban one.

This Amir is a different Amir altogether from the pre-ban Amir! That Amir was young, full of energy with no baggage! 5 years away from the game is a long period! This Amir knows his responsibilities! This Amir knows what he did wrong! He is seeking redemption all the time! I really want to see him win the World Cup for us! It's like Sultan coming back to wrestling aka Salman Khan! This is like Imran Khan coming back from retirement in 87 to win 92 World Cup! He is the chosen one for the glory in my opinion and Insha Allah success will come to him and his efforts will reap rewards just like they did in Champions Trophy~ I have faith in Amir!

    Sure.

On contrary Abbas is a domestic product, which proves that point that not every player, specially top performer is utter garbage and useless. I still don't see any justification of consistent ignoring of Fawad Alam and Sadaf Hussain. Both were top performers for years, but they couldn't find room in the playing XI, which holds many passengers. Nepotism and favoritism also have to take huge blame of our downfall beside lack of talent in the country.
