very interesting story breaking today with possibly explosive ramifications for the country. massive accusations from Maryam, which look like they will either begin to reverse the political momentum of the past year, or will throw this witch back into prison where she belongs. from the pro PMLN media mouthpiece, the Tribune: https://tribune.com.pk/story/200761...-not-guilty-al-azizia-reference-claims-pml-n/ Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Saturday revealed a video clip whereby accountability judge Arshad Malik could be heard saying that there was “no proof of corruption against the deposed premier” in the December 24 Al-Azizia reference, Express News reported. The video clip played at the joint press conference in Islamabad, in which Maryam Nawaz was flanked by senior PML-N leadership, revealed a meeting between a party worker [Nasir Butt] and the accountability judge. “No evidence that a single penny has been shifted from Pakistan. No evidence of shifting any money by accused from Pakistan,” Maryam translated the judge as saying from the video. “No evidence of any embezzlement of funds by Hussain in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia,” she further quoted the judge as saying. “No link between Nawaz and the properties in London,” she added. Maryam claimed that the accountability judge was coerced into delivering the Al-Azizia verdict against him [Nawaz]. The PML-N vice president further alleged that certain individuals showed the judge a personal video after which he relented to their demand. The PML-N leader further alleged that a conversation with the judge revealed that he had been forced to bend to pressure. “His life was made unbearable and he was on the brink of committing suicide after which the judge succumbed to pressure,” she said. Accusing Prime Minister Imran Khan-led government of ‘plotting’ against PML-N, Maryam claimed that she has evidence against anyone who denies her claims. “Imran Khan is among the people who destroyed the country,” she claimed. The PML-N leader also stated that while she has evidence against state institutions, she does not want to confront them. The party leadership prepared packages of video clips and transcripts of the meeting between Butt and the accountability judge. Senior PML-N leaders including Shehbaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were present on the occasion. Maryam said the judge who had announced the verdict against Nawaz Sharif has now declared him innocent. “Now, if he [Nawaz] remains in jail even for a minute, then this will be a great injustice not only with the three-time premier but with the people of this country,” she added. Without singling out anyone, Maryam warned all those involved in the matter against playing dirty tricks and resorting to nasty moves or otherwise she will come up with even bigger evidence she claimed she possessed. “I am not against any particular institution… and since all allegations against Nawaz Sharif having been proved wrong, all cases against him should be declared null and void and he should be freed of all charges.” In December, an accountability court sentenced former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to seven-year rigorous imprisonment after it found him guilty in Al-Azizia reference, one of the three graft cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with the apex court order. The Supreme Court on July 28, 2017, disqualified Nawaz in Panama Papers case and ordered NAB to file separate cases which were respectively called Avenfield, Al-Azizia and Flagship references. Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik had acquitted Sharif in Flagship reference. The former premier and his family members have already been convicted in Avenfield case. However, the accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad Malik on Monday acquitted Sharif in Flagship reference.
