Middle east on the verge of a war ...

Last week there was an attack on four tankers in the Persian Gulf. Iran was named for attack, who vigorously denied a U.S. claim and said that officials in the Trump administration are trying to pull it into a war with the U.S. and its regional allies.

Since then Yemen's Houthi rebels said they will launch attacks on Saudi Arabia & UAE. According to some reports they are aiming to strike some 300 vital military targets inside Saudi Arabia and the UAE. They have also targeted key oil facilities.

If Iran doesnt want war with KSA and not supporting Houthi's than who is supporting them to target Saudi and UAE?

I might be wrong, but I can sense that US is trying to indulge Saudi and Iran in war.

I was reading it somwhere that Iran denied of supporting Houthi's, so if this is the case then who is supporting Houthi's to attack on Saudi and UAE? Somebody is taking advantage of situation it seems !!!

war is in the interests of multiple actors in the region, as a distraction from other problems, either internal political or economic, or for reasons to garner international political support, drum p business or secure aid.

saudi/uae/iran/usa/israel all fit those categories. who is pulling which strings to do this, are they genuine attacks or false flags - its impossible to say, but all these countries have a motive.

the saudis are about to execute three moderate scholars with massive multiples of millions of international online followers, the uae and saudis after kashogi last year still need to build up currency with the international community, Iran is fighting back against usa forced international sanctions agains the softest ally the usa has in the region - Saudi, the usa welcomes distraction from internal political turmoil, and the speculation of an imminent recession, and broken international trade debates, and an excuse to sell more outdated weapons, to fat, rich, stupid arabs who dont know how to use them, and Israel of course wants a continued favoured nation trade status, billions in foreign aid, and a blind eye to its apartheid expansionism on occupied territory - all of which would be under extreme scrutiny in the case of regional peace.

however, the actuality of war is I think something that none of those nations want. sabre rattling is enough to achieve all those motivations, but there's always a risk that a rogue element pushes that sabre rattling too far, and it balloons into something real and dangerous.

 

i guess Iran's time has come.

Pakistan has expressed ‘deep concern' over the killing of Iranian General Qasim Suleimani in a US strike at an airport in Iraq.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan views the situation and recent developments in Middle East with great concern which could also disrupt peace and stability in the region.

The FO stated as part of the UN Charter, countries should respect and adhere to each others integrity and territorial sovereignty. The statement added, “It is important to avoid unilateral actions and use of force."

The statement said that it is need of the hour to de-escalate the situation and adopt diplomatic means to resolve issues peacefully by following international law and UN Charter.



The high-profile assassinations are likely to be a massive blow to Iran, which has been locked in a long conflict with the United States that escalated sharply last week with an attack on the US embassy in Iraq by pro-Iranian militiamen following a US air raid on the Kataib Hezbollah militia, founded by Muhandis.

Soleimani's killing marks a dramatic escalation in the regional “shadow war" between Iran and the US and its allies, principally Israel and Saudi Arabia, which could quickly ratchet up tit-for-tat attacks – all the way to the brink of all-out war.

The slain commander's Quds Force, along with its stable of paramilitary proxies from Lebanon's Hezbollah to the PMF in Iraq – battle-hardened militias armed with missiles – has ample means to launch a multi-barrelled response against its enemies.

Analysts say Iran is likely to respond forcefully to the targeting of Soleimani, who it has built into a legend as its influence has spread across the region in the wake of the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and subsequent occupation

Soleimani, who has led the foreign arm of the Revolutionary Guards and has had a key role in fighting in Syria and Iraq, acquired celebrity status at home and abroad.

The United States and Iran's regional foes Saudi Arabia and Israel have struggled to keep Iran's influence in check.

Soleimani survived several assassination attempts against him by Western, Israeli and Arab agencies over the past two decades.

ive heard from a neutral insider that solaiman was a bad person, responsible for all manner of anti rebel attacks in Iraq, against people seeking to uproot the pro Iranian government. but that said, extra judicial killings and assassinations are a war crime as far as I understand it.

everything is a mess. its impossible to know who to believe and who not to. I think pakistan have done well to align with Russia and china, as the only real credible military opponents to what is a US-western hegemony.

 

He was a war criminal and also had a history of spouting anti Pak bakwaas (probably had a hand in Pak Balochistan also...)

However, that doesn't mean that I am happy over such actions/an extra judicial killing based on (at the very best) incredibly flimsy intelligence that he was 'planning attacks against US personnel', intelligence that derives from what **** Chainey used to say to back up his calls for action against Iran back in the day incidentally.

The killing of this 1 man, has the potential of plunging the world into ABSOLUTE madness.

The same Pakistan (including Afwaj) hasn't spouted rubbish against Iran despite (Post revolution) Iran being a very close ally of India?

If you read between the lines than you'll realize that it speaks volumes about their intention since get go. Their aim is to destabilize that region and reason is simple. I know many will label it as conspiracy theory but its not. Israelis are waiting for their "messiah" and they believe that he wouldnt come until a massive war will begin, which could be WW3. Therefore, Trump is taking every possible action to start war in that region.

US Defence Secretary Mark Esper has denied US troops are pulling out of Iraq, after a letter from a US general there suggested a withdrawal.

The letter said the US would be "repositioning forces in the coming days and weeks" after Iraqi MPs had called for them to leave.

Mr Esper said there had been "no decision whatsoever to leave".

The confusion came amid threats to American forces after the US killed top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani.

The letter appeared to have been sent by Brig Gen William H Seely, head of the US military's task force in Iraq, to Abdul Amir, the deputy director of Combined Joint Operations.

It starts: "Sir, in due deference to the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq, and as requested by the Iraqi Parliament, and the Prime Minister, CJTF-OIR (Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve) will be repositioning forces over the course of the coming days and weeks to prepare for onward movement."

The letter says certain measures, including increased air traffic, will be conducted "during hours of darkness" to "ensure the movement out of Iraq is conducted in a safe and efficient manner".

It would also "alleviate any perception that we may be bringing more Coalition Forces into the IZ (Green Zone in Baghdad)".

But Mr Esper said: "There's been no decision whatsoever to leave Iraq. I don't know what that letter is... We're trying to find out where that's coming from, what that is.

"But there's been no decision made to leave Iraq. Period."

President Donald Trump had earlier threatened sanctions against Iraq if the 5,000 US troops were forced to go.

Seems like POTUS will divert the attention from his impeachment.

 

I am suspecting he will authorize air strikes inside Iran and this can turn dangerous for the region. Then Iran will retaliate and hit their bases in Gulf countries.

 

I dont think they will make a hit inside Iran, that would be like giving a free ticket to them hitting Israel.
