Pakistan former captain Misbah ul Haq has expressed concern over the side’s recent performance in the Test format, especially the national team dismal show at its adopted home, the UAE.

“It is definitely an area of concern for anyone who is interested in Pakistan cricket. When we play away from home, we can always say that it’s tough playing in places such as South Africa where Asian teams struggle due to the conditions.

“However, the biggest concern is that we have been losing Tests in the UAE which is our home. We really need to put some efforts to get to the bottom of this issue and find out what problems we have which are causing us to lose at home,” said Misbah, quoted PakPassion.

Misbah, who boost the record of being the country’s most successful Test captain also pointed out on the dearth of quality spinners and batsmen that can play spin well, which the former captain blamed on domestic cricket being played on seaming tracks.

“Given the nature of the pitches, the spinners are not getting enough time to bowl and similarly, the batsmen are getting lesser time to face spinners. With this background, our batsmen and spinners run into problems in the UAE as they don’t seem to have practice in this aspect of our cricket,” he added.

The downward slide started with him.

    1. Lost a test in UAE against a weak and inexperienced west indies team
    2. Whitewashed in New Zealand
    3. Whitewashed in Australia
    4. Scraped through away against a weak and inexperienced West Indies line up including a shameful under 100 collapse in the second test

His biggest mistake was that he was an honest man who brought in dignity to his team after the spot fixing scandal. That's the difference between him and the ones who played (fixed) for Pakistan in the 90's.

When captain Misbah retired from Test, he made sure Pakistan was nicely ranked at no 8th position, which was the bottom of the list.

    It’s kinda ironic.
