Former Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq has said that current Men in Green skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed should bat at number five in the batting order.

“Sarfaraz should take more responsibility in batting department and come in to bat at number five position,” said Misbah while talking during a Ramadan cricket tournament in Karachi.

Earlier Sarfaraz had also made an important announcement, before leaving for England, that he will be batting in the top five positions of the batting order, during the mega event. He added that veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik will be batting at number six.

"We will change our batting order in England,” Sarfaraz said during a press conference. “I will bat in the above positions, top five, and Shoaib Malik will come at six.”

LOL at Malik's position, he cant even make into the playing XI atm.

As for Sarfraz, I dont think he should come at 5, he will kill the momentum on the innings. He should continue to hide lower down the order at 7/8/9.

    Malik at 6 ?
Then Imad and Shadab at 7 and 8

So where will Asif play ?

And does that mean its curtains for Hafeez ?

Misbah has no place giving any advice on World Cup or even ODI strategy. National embarrassment in ICC tournaments

Wherever he bats, will more often then not only score 20-30 and out. Not a finisher. Can’t hit big. He’s okay to rotate it around.

Misbah himself struggled with batting positions of himself and his team mates so he really doesn't have the credit for the statement... The problem is that both sarfraz and malik occupy a position in the batting order which doesn't suit them.

The position 5 and 6 are your players who can accumulate but also accelerate. In fact seeing the top order they will more likely be accelerating more often than not however we have in those positions, playing batsmen who can't accelerate. Sarfraz for all his jumping around struggles with pace bowling and can't put it away and relies on strike rotation at crucial stages of the game when hitting is needed and then we have malik who struggles with anything above 105kph and in those death overs no team will bowl a spinner for malik to attack. Thus recently we see this trend that Pakistan gets a decent start and some good scores which fail to finish bcz the lower order struggles to finish the game.

At this point we have to wonder as to why we are taking malik to england. Are we willing to sacrifice our worldcup campaign jut to give a so so player his goodbye. In that world cup we will have to chase and score big and our lower order will play a crucial role.
