So our next game is on the 19th. Our batters don't look very comfortable, therefore, do think some of following players should be given a chance:

    1. Fakhar
    2. Usman S
    3. Saad Ali
    3. Hasan Ali

Amir might sit out as Azhar hinted that we need to mange his workload, which means Hassan can come in.

Million dollar question is, will Fakhr get a chance or Mickey will persist with Azhar? Because Azhar is the one who hasn't contributed at all yet.

    Thoughts?

Cant drop Azhar as he is our best batsman. He can come good any game.

Even if he fails against leicestershire in both innings? That will be 6 consecutive failures.

He will at least play the first test and then we will have to assess. They may move him back to number 3.

But then if Harry, Asad and Babar performed well, then how would you move him down?

Harry has been disappointing so far and may be the one to lose the spot

I would say, rest shafiq and play fakhar as an opener. With imam in the middle.
Must rest Aamir and Abbas too.
    hassan should come in.
Play Saad in place of Abbas.
Not because he hasn't performed, but because he has and we can't afford any injury to our second strike bowler.

Also, give lots of overs to Harris and Saad for practice.

    Team

    Fakher
    Azhar
    Harris
    Baber
    Imam
    Sarfaraz
    Saad
    Shadab
    Faheem
    Hassan
    Rahat

He can come good alright but he won’t have a impact on the game.

I didnt know that Saad can bowl too.

Yes, I certainly want to try to bench strength going in this game too.

If Saad Ali can score on them pitches he deserves to play atleast 10 Tests.

BTW Bobby was outstanding today, told you he was a lambhi race ka ghoda @Patriot

Fakhar, Saad, Salahuddin should play. Azhar should play to try and get some form. Hasan should come in for Amir.

    Fakhar Zaman
    Azhar Ali
    Haris / Babar
    Saad Ali
    Asad Shafiq
    Usman Salahuddin
    Sarfraz Ahmed (c & wk)
    Shadab Khan
    Fahim Ashraf
    Hasan Ali
    Mohammad Abbas

would be my team for this game

I would rest Abbas, he was our best bowler against Ira, wouldn't want him to pick up an injury in a practice match, especially when Aamir is already injured.

    The rest is pretty good.
    Agree on benched players playing.

    How about this line up?

    Fakhar Zaman
    Azhar Ali
    Baber Azam
    Haris Sohail
    Saad Ali
    Usman Salahuddin
    Sarfraz Ahmed (c & wk)
    Shadab Khan
    Fahim Ashraf
    Hasan Ali
    Rahat Ali

Yeah fair enough on Abbas I suppose. I would like Asad to get some more practice though considering he would be playing most likely

Yes he would be playing but he did got that 180 in the practice match plus that 60 odd in the first innings against Ira. So i would say that he had quite a lot of practice, plus he is a senior player.

After the injury to Aamir, i am worried if something similar happens to one of our inform batters, it would be disastrous.
We must be prepared for such an occasion by giving the benched batsmen who are also inexperienced, a chance.

If Fakhar plays well he could come in for Haris, and Azhar Ali will drop to No.3.

Than who will open with him? Imam?

Azhar is out of form but he should play first test.
So it is imperative that he plays the practice match in the SAME position he will be playing the test in.

No reason why we can't play Azhar at No.3 in the practice match. Haris is also a make-shift No.3 because Babar can't bat up and Asad won't bat up.

What's mad about it? Azhar Ali was asked to open because we wanted to fit Babar at 3, as Younis, Misbah, Shafiq positions were sealed. If Azhar was slotted as a fixed opener why did we take two extra openers on the squad?

While this one might be only a little mad, as Azhar has been pretty good as an opener, remember that double against Australia?
He was much better at 3 but, than again, so was Justin Langer. Remind me how we remember him as?

There has been much worse experiments, like Afridi opening in tests because he did so in odi's.
Azhar Mahmood being moved up when he scored three centuries at 6.
Shaan Masood playing for Pakistan, period.
    Or Kamran Akmal after Sydney.
Aamir Sohail playing but not opening.
Miandad playing in WC96, two years after retirement in place of Basit.
New players getting selected in deciders instead of dead rubbers.

Harry performed well in the two warmup matches and against Ireland as well got a 30 odd to his name. He was performing well at No. 4 and you moved him to No. 3 and then expect him to perform!! Play him at his number and Babar at Babar's number and Asad at Asad's number!@

I cant wait for Fakhar to get his chance against leicestershire and make some aggressive runs, ideally a 100. Then will see how much this notion 'Azhar is your best batsman' will hold weight.

Yeh, continue your blind hate for him.

I don’t know why people like yourself hate him as he is a shareef larka and he’s a humble young cricketer that wants to succeed and do well for his country.

maybe you don’t like a good batsman, maybe you prefer mediocrity? Maybe your jeloused of him? I don’t know but I do know that Babar is a special player.

Continue loving grandpa Misbah who will be a hundred years old in a few months, people like you can’t digest Pakistan moving upwards.

He just needs that maiden hundred to get him off the mark then he will shut you up forever.

Billy don't take it to the heart bro, our Bobby darling played really well along with Imam.

Actually circumstances were similar when he scored that 90 (not out) against NZ in identical conditions, but wickets were falling like house of cards, even Southee acknowledged that innings.

Exactly, even batsmen like Atapatu started badly. And he ended up with 6 double centuries.
Sangakara only blossomed after his first century.

    BUMPED !!!

As expected Fakhar made very useful runs and for the first time, opening partnership crosses 100 without a wicket.

Means Harry wouldn't keep his spot no.3 and Azhar should replace him?
