NOTTINGHAM: Pakistan will announce its 12-member squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match against West Indies today. Pakistan will play West Indies at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in the second match of the World Cup at 2:30 pm (PST) on Friday. Pakistan played England at this ground in the fourth ODI and scored 340/7, but lost by three wickets. According to reports the 12-member squad will not feature Haris Sohail, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Hasnain. Either Shoaib Malik or Asif Ali will be included in the playing XI. I think its a tie between Harris Vs Asif. I will definitely play Harris. I just feel we need a proper batsman at 4 just incase if we loose couple of early wickets.
Hafeez is a must. WI Has 5 left handed batsman. His bowling would be crucial. I believe he will opening the bowling with Aamir. Also he has been batting well as well in recent months.

They have to either opt 3 pacers (Amir, Hassan and Wahab) or drop one for Imad, depends on pitch and condition and keep WI batting in mind. I would certainly pick Hafeez and Shadab as 2 spinners. Haris can also roll his arms for few overs if needed and they struggle to play spin. That said, you cant just go with 4 batsmen against any opposition, because we know how we crumble if 2/3 early wickets fall. Harry is needed as safety net.
This team will struggle if Fakhar, Babar are out within 5 overs, because you dont have proper batsmen after Hafeez. Asif is good when you send him around 37/38. He will rotate strike for some 18/20 balls, hit few fours and then from 42/43 will start hitting - this is his role !

We need Malik more as a bowler than anything else. Sarfaraz should have been rested, and Malik should've been in. Barber to keep the wickets and we are good. IMO, Sarfaraz has minimum to no role or contribution in this team unless he can surprise us tomorrow? Let's hope so. All the best to Pak team.
Knowing their thinking and over reliance on spin, they will likely play Imad and drop a batsman. If Imad bowls his usual fast no spin balls, he will get taken to the cleaners. In reality, it is more critical to play an extra batsman and depend on Hafeez, Haris and Fakhar to bowl 10 overs.
Yeah, should have played Umar Akmal as the keeper. We would have had a great lineup. As of now, lets just hope Sarfraz finally fulfills the hopes of many of us who had backed him in the last WC and after.
