Pakistan A will be staying back at the end of the tri-series for a couple of 4 day games with Sri Lanka A IIRC.

A great opportunity for some of the young batsman in the A team to stake a claim for the senior side.

8 or 9 possible opportunities for the likes of Ghumman, Asad Shafiq and Naved Yasin. I do hope they take them.

Interesting to see how Azeem's captaincy will be.

On a side note I'm sure there's a Pakistan game missing from the above schedule.

Should be a good series and a valuable experience for these players.
I'd be following their performances keenly, especially of Asad Shafiq, Naved Yasin, Hammad Azam, Azeem Ghumman,Tabish Khan and of course M. Irfan.

Exactly! I hope he's a bit more attacking and unconventional in his captaincy.
If I'm not wrong, he's the youngest player in the squad. Players with a lot more cricketing experience than him, will be playing under him.
    Best of luck to him!

A brave and unconventional move by the PCB where seniority rules the roost. Good luck to him.

I'm sure Merc will be able to get some info on it.

It's a solid squad, I must say. Plenty of players there who are close on getting called up for the national side so it would be interesting how they do.

A pretty good "A" team for Pakistan with Azeem Ghumman as captain which will be interesting to see how he goes about it! Hopefully the lads we've talked about like Shafiq, Yasin, Ghumman and ofcourse Mohammad Irfan can put up some good performances to bring up their names in the limelight for the senior team in the coming months, InshahAllah.

The scorecard for the warm up game is below:

Sri Lanka Cricket Academy v Pakistan A at Colombo (SSC), Aug 22, 2010 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com

    Pakistan win by 69 runs.

Top scores for Pakistan: Ghani 67, Khurram 47, Naeem Anjum the wicketkeeper made 29. Pakistan totalled 215.

Mohammad Talha and Yasir Shah the stars for Pakistan. Talha 4 for 22 of eight overs and Yasir Shah with 5 wickets to his name.

Good start to the tour for Pakistan but the batting needs to get its act together for the game against South Africa.

Good to see Talha, Yasir and Ghani performing well.

It's just the first match. They'll take some time to adjust, which is exactly why they are playing these warm-up matches before the actual trination tournament.

Why is Fawad alam not on this tour?!?

Is it just be or is it crazy that one of our best players is applying his trade in the lower leagues of crappy cricket in England when he could be on a Pakistan A tour?

    That's Pakistan cricket for us.
The guy was kept with the national team for 3 years and all of a sudden he's not good enough even for the A team!
