Rashid made some very good points. they dropped Kakmal not just because of his batting, but because of his fielding, in which case why didn't the selection committee know about his fielding before hand. if you are going to pick someone you should give them a run.

also Akram, Rashid and mohammed wasim all agreed it makes no sense to have left sohail out and to have included wahab.

haris I can understand, he wast match fit during the psl, and a few games in free flowing presidents cup isn't enough to prove he has fully recovered from the major injury he suffered (mohammed wasim shares the same opinion).

amin is unproven, but sohail is mind boggling.

Yamin was a much better option and in form compared to Fahim who has been terrible in the Pakistan Cup. And yeah Sohail is in top form with both bat & ball, plus would've done well in UK conditions.

Fahim should play over Wahab. Wahab is a rubbish ODI bowler. Sifarshi gets picked again and again. And on what basis did they select Junaid? He has been ordinary. And Amir should be axed if he fails in the CT, enough of free rides, disgusting to see. Imad should work on his bowling in ODI cricket, or get ready for an axe. And disgusting to see Azhar and Umar back. Should have selected some youngster, like Sahibzada Farhan, guy is an impressive batsman, has almost all the shots in his book. Or I would have even preferred Manzoor and Iftikhar over Azhar and Umar.

We are highly dependent on Shadab and Hasan in the bowling department.

Manzoor deserved it more than Azhar and Umar. What a clueless selector.

Great and we play them last.

So by the time we play them, we'd have lost to india and SA anyway and will either be outright out or have 0.01% chance of going through if we beat them by 500 runs or chase their target with 2.3 overs

Not a bad team apart from Hafeez, Azhar and Shehzad who all merit a spot for no reason and we will have the slowest starts ever.

Its definitely stronger than what they've been playing in recent times. I think Bangladesh is still stronger though.

Astonishing but expected for dimwit Inzi. He always find new ways to goof-up things.

Junaid is having worst time of his life as cricketer, not to mention his questionable action. Picking him ahead of Sohail Khan is plain wrong.

Fahim Ashraf is not better than Yamin, Hussain or Amad by any means. And haven't done anything substantial in the ongoing tournament. Yamin has done everything in his power to send positive vibe, what else do you expect for one to be selected? Its not like we didnt have any other options. Yamin, Hussain or Amin all could've been picked instead of Fahim.

Last Few Years Pakistan ODI Team will Destructed they will not play as their Strength. Pakistan Cricket Board Need to think about that they are reached at the 8th Position on the Point table Bangladesh Perform Well as compared to Pakistan. I think Pakistan Only focus on Test Cricket they need to Focus on ODI also...

Someone should go up to selectors and question on what basis each player has been selected and same for players who have been dropped/ignored as decisions don't make much sense

well now haris is confirmed in for ukmal I suppose the best xi, for whatever thats worth, would have to be:

    1. Hafeez (ptb)
    2. Fakhar
    3. Babar
    4. Sarfraz
    5. Malik (ptb)
    6. Haris (ptb)
    7. Imad (b)
    8. Shadab (b)
    9. Amir (b)
    10. Hasan (b)
    11. Wahab /Junaid (b)

five bowlers plus three part timers: three pacers, two spinners, three part time spinners.

I'd be tempted to play an extra batter in place of Shadab. Yes, Azhar and Shezzy are not great but we'll need support in batting.

very fair. its a good debate I think, its arguable that our bowling is stronger than our batting, so we might as well play to what little relative strength we have.

I thinking retrospect I might agree with you, particularly after looking back at shadab's odi returns in the windies.

Shehzad has never been a limited over cricketer, so I don't see the point at all of playing him, particularly when he has just spectacularly failed on placid pitches against sub standard bowlers in his best format.

Azhar for shadab might be worth the call - shadab is a must for t20's probably, but he started showing signs of inexperience in the Odis in the windies, I suppose its a function of what the pitches are like, and the state of shadabs mind.

    so I suppose:

    1. Azhar
    2. Fakhar
    3. Babar
    4. Sarfraz
    5. Malik (ptb)
    6. Haris (ptb)
    7. Hafeez (ptb)
    8. Imad (b)
    9. Amir (b)
    10. Hasan (b)
    11. Wahab /Junaid (b)

Agreed. If Hafeez is a true team player he should bat in the lower middle order.

in general I agree, but Energy's post pushed me to look up his performances, the problem is theres such little data, its difficult to draw any convicted conclusions, but for whats its worth, they don't look amazing in the one day format:

    list A - he's only played 15 games:

    M-R-W-Ave-Eco-SR
    15 680 22 30.90 5.82 31.8

    West Indies series:

    9 0 52 2 5.77
    10 1 40 1 4.00
    8 0 57 2 7.12

not that impressive but only three matches, and if you put it in context, he was still the joint 3rd highest wicket taker but was expensive: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...most_wickets_career.html?id=11694;type=series

if you consider too that our players will be required to bat outside of their normal game by playing more aggressively - perhaps 'strengthening' the batting is a good idea.

    its a close call!
