Pakistan is likely to make two changes to their playing XI for group match against Bangladesh on Friday, July 5, during the ongoing 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in England and Wales.

According to details, the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led unit will prefer veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik and right-arm pacer Hasan Ali over opener Fakhar Zaman and left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz.

Fakhar Zaman has been going through a lean patch in the past few ODIs and has only notched up 173 runs in seven World Cup matches at an average of 24.7.

Due to the improbable qualification scenario for semi-finals, Pakistan is planning to give Shoaib Malik a farewell One-day International (ODI) match. Malik had already announced before the tournament that he would retire from ODI cricket after the 2019 World Cup.

Wahab Riaz, who played with a fractured finger against Afghanistan, is also likely to be rested.

On the other hand, Hasan Ali is likely to replace Riaz despite being unable to spur magic with the ball and only claiming two wickets in his last four outings earlier in the mega event.

The Men in Green will have to either make 400 runs and dismiss Bangladesh for 84 runs or make 350 runs and dismiss the tigers for 38 runs to go ahead of New Zealand in the net run rate and qualify for the semi-finals.

If Bangladesh bats first, Pakistan stands no chance of qualifying for the semi-final.

This tells me about their approach and mindset.

It tells me that they already gave up even before the game started and assumed that they cant make 400+ runs, therefore give Malik his farewell game - kya baat hai, wah !!!

They are dropping Wahab Riaz. So we need another bowler to replace him. Shaheen Afridi and Amir cant take that load themselves.

Yes and that why I said try Hasnain instead of Hassan, who is horrendous with the ball.

After all we were told that they're taking Hasnain as X-factor, so at least give him a game.

Oh sorry I was totally clueless. Lol I thought he was a batsmen. I might have confused him with another player who bats left handed.

I would rather they actually go for it and lose then do tuk tuk and win. What's the point even playing if your not going for the win ?.

Then you shouldn't start criticising the team either - wait the team to be announced first then you can do whatever

Some of you guys never have anything positive to say about the team management.

Just wait until tomorrow, see what the XI is at 10.00am and then say whatever you want regarding them

This team management will have to face all the heat after countless error they have made from years. It all just didnt start like yesterday. Therefore, they're are not many things "positive" to say about the management.

Saying something is one and achieving it another.

Do you really believe that this Pakistan team can make 450 or 500? And then win by 316-run margin.

He also said that "if you look at the tournament then, realistically it is a 280-300 tournament."

There you go, a contradiction in between what they have to do vs. what is realistic.

Naw this quote had nothing to do with what I think it had to do with what he thinks. Personally despite us losing our place in the Semi Finals it would be nice to see a different side of Pakistan in this game. A more positive side that tries to play faster in the first ten overs. We might not qualify, it would still be nice to see something to cheer for.

I don't care about Shoaib Malik. Yes he represented Pak for twenty years but he did grouping, he was a match fixer, he's also had his off field issues especially what he did with his first wife was wrong and then to top it off he's a mediocre cricketer whose in poor form anyways and imo he's cost us this world cup.

Wah. Kya baat hai. Dump your true legends but give these railu kattas farewells. What can I say. It sums up Pakistan as a country.

They are such losers they already gave up. That's why they find themselves in this situation.

If I was the Captain I would ask them to "TRY" and do the unthinkable. Go for a target of 600 runs no matter if we are bowled out for 100 while trying that.

What the hell is this farewell match? Malik is not that sort of a legend who deserves a farewell game.

I would ask my batsmen to go out all guns blazing without any second thoughts. Who knows it might be our day and everything we touches turn to gold. At least looking back at this game we would not say we didn't try.

They have 50 overs to bat, and the mentality must be absolute carnage in the opening 10 overs power play, we must look in the region of 10-15 runs per over which is possible with restrictions in the field in first 10, then take it from there, that's what I assume if we bat first and the groundsmen offers a surface that's DECENT

Before Malik retired from Test he scored a surprising double century against England.

If he plays his last odi before retiring and given how ODIs were his primary format, based on this historical data I believe he will score at least 230.
