In the end, it was a emphatic win.

It was wonderful to see Pakistan style fast bowling on show.

Obviously a lot of fans are not happy because Misbah’s job may have been saved.

Lets carry on supporting a team that has been starved of cricket at home.

Mabrook everyone! Alhyumdullilah a much needed and emphatic Test series win at home.

Here is my quick review of the series.

    Pros
    1. Alhumdullilah great to see Fawad continuing to go strong. We have waited a long time to see him in the Pakistani team and it's great to see him grab the opportunity with both hands
    2. Excellent to see Rizwan to grow from strength to strength behind the stumps and with the bat. His catch to dismiss Elgar in the 2nd innings in Karachi was breath taking and alhumdullilah great to see him not making any blunders behind the stumps whilst continuing to contribute with the bat
    3. Its great to mashAllah see Faheem continue to develop into a full fledged all rounder. His batting has come on leaps and bounds and he could fulfil the much needed role of fast bowling all rounder for us
    4. Nauman seems a possible promising prospect with the ball and bat. Not sure how many years he has left in him but could be a handy addition
    5. Hassan Ali's come back was emphatic alhumudllilah. His 10 wickets in the 2nd Test were breathtaking
    6. It was great to see the Pakistani pacers step up when we needed them. In recent times the pacers have disappointed us at times (e.g. not getting the job done in Machester VS England last year) but Alhumdullilah it was great to see Shaheen and Hassan step up today when our back was against the wall and rip through the South African batting line up with the new ball
    7. On the whole the fielding had been pretty good - specially today - and we held onto catches well.

    Cons
    1. I had expected more from Yasir and hope he can bounce back inshAllah
    2. Babar and Azhar had a relatively quiet series by their standard, but you can expect any batsmen to score in every single innings and I have no doubt they will come back strong inshAllah
    3. Our opening batsmen are a major concern. Any chance we can play Imad Butt as a 12th man and just have him as a specialist slip fielder?
Alhumdullilah on the whole feeling great about the series and the win.

May be inspired to make a short video montage for the series :)

Would be great to get your thoughts on the series :)

Opening is the real concern. We need to solve this achilles heel. The rest of the team looks fine. Yasir bowled well but Pindi pitch traditionally supports the pacers more than the spinners. Faheem is a good addition but he needs to work harder on his bowling.

Two good test matches and great to watch.

I think they were actually more competitive than the scores suggest - the main thing was we won the crucial sessions of play and our tail contributed crucial runs in both tests.

Either way, congrats to Pakistan cricket for a major home series after many years.

    My pros:

Fawad: Great to see him score runs. Looks to have a cool head on his shoulders. Very pleased for him.
Faheem: Looking like a really good find. Again, crucial runs and did his job with the ball. We have been crying out for a pace bowling all rounder for years.
Hassan: Simply superb in the second test. Great to see a Pakistani bowler BOWLING people out consistently. That's what we are known for historically.
Fielding: Much improved from New Zealand - I can only remember Uncle Nauman dropping a sitter and Babar dropping a tough chance. That is the difference between winning and losing games.

    My cons:

Fawad. We have missed out on him for the last 10 years. He could have easily had 10-15 test centuries.
Openers: Agree with Talha. We cannot be 30 for 2 in every innings. Just not good enough. Surely there must be some openers in Pakistan somewhere?

Opening ka issue bhi ahiste ahiste solve hojayega... We need to give these openers more chances so that they settle in international cricket... Abid Ali looked much better in his last innings... Imran Butt bhi mujhe sahi laga hai but uski 1st series thi... We need to give them some time and they will start to score too... Abhi Zimbabwe ne bhi aana hai but odi aur t20 series hai test series nahi hai.. South African pacers were most difficult to handle and openers had the most difficult task i.e. to see off the new ball.. sirf runs banana important nahi hote new ball per.. you need to see off new ball too as an opener... But, agar aapko experienced openers laane hein to Shan Masood, ImamulHaq aur Fakhar Zaman ready made openers hein but ab aap ne Imran Butt aur Abid Ali ko back kiya hai to ill suggest give them full chance before discarding them...

It was fun to watch them fall like flies as we all expected.
I think the good thing was, there wasn't any controversial or on the line umpiring decisions. All wickets fell fair and square.

Slightly disappointed that we have to stick with that numb nut Misbah and Waqar for God knows, how long now?

Yeah the only downside to winning 2-0 is they have cemented their place now, probably until 2022. Potential they could go after the T20 World Cup if it is a disaster but given it is going to be in India, I think we are likely to do well (no thanks to them of course).

2 tests kiya hai batsman ke liye to 4 chance hein na 4 innings... 4 innings aur woh bhi Rabada aur Nokia ke samne new ball.. Opening is the most difficult science in cricket... Ball purana ho to khelna asaan ho jata hai... Opener banana parte hein har koi Fawad Alam nahi hota ke aate hi perform karne lag jaye...

    1. Alhumdullilah great to see Fawad continuing to go strong. We have waited a long time to see him in the Pakistani team and it's great to see him grab the opportunity with both hands
      • Indeed, good to see Fawad perform. He seems to be physically fit so hopefully he will stay for a while. Plus they really have no replacement for him right now.
      • Rizwa was amazing to watch, in batting and wicketkeeping.
    3. Its great to mashAllah see Faheem continue to develop into a full fledged all rounder. His batting has come on leaps and bounds and he could fulfil the much needed role of fast bowling all rounder for us
      • I was surprised to see his all round performance specially his batting.
    4. Nauman seems a possible promising prospect with the ball and bat. Not sure how many years he has left in him but could be a handy addition
      • Since he is spinner he may have few more years left.
    5. Hassan Ali's come back was emphatic alhumudllilah. His 10 wickets in the 2nd Test were breathtaking
      • Wow, what a comeback. He truly showed his commitment, and love for test cricket.
      • Shaheen may not have many wickets but his impact was monumental. Such a pleasure to watch him bowl.
      • In past fielding has let the bowling down. Pacers showed how good they can be if fielding supports them.
    7. On the whole the fielding had been pretty good - specially today - and we held onto catches well.
      • It was nice to see such. Few times it was hard to believe that it was Pak fielding.

    Cons
    1. I had expected more from Yasir and hope he can bounce back inshAllah
      • He is fine, needs more flight in his bowling. Plus I never saw him without a smile on his face.
    2. Babar and Azhar had a relatively quiet series by their standard, but you can expect any batsmen to score in every single innings and I have no doubt they will come back strong inshAllah
      • True you can't score in every game.
      • Babar's captaincy was actually good.
    3. Our opening batsmen are a major concern. Any chance we can play Imad Butt as a 12th man and just have him as a specialist slip fielder?
      • This is same story since forever.
      • Hopefully new structure will bring stability in this for us as well.
Overall very satisficed performance. Well done boys.

Some very well thought out posts here. Shame there is no like option no more..

I think big positive is decent captaincy from Babar and Rizwan.

Also, consistently good performances from Rizwan, Faheem and tail enders.
Decent fielding with most catches being taken. So many run outs inflicted.

To top it off a 10 wicket haul from a fast bowler. Seems like ages since the last one.

Hoping playing at home will lift the performance levels

    Great series victory.

What/when is Pakistans next test engagement? Are we playing tests vs Zimbabwe? The scheduling is not clear.

I was having a look at our home and away record against each team (last series played) and noticed that we lost to Zimbabwe at home and drew away.

Would be nice to start remedying.

Other than that NZ is the only team we haven't beaten at home the last time we played them. (Next series is Oct 22 to try and remedy this)

We have also lost to Aus, SA, NZ, Eng & Ind away the last time we have played them.

2 tests in Zimbabwe in April and then 3 tests in West Indies in July.

    Thanks.

    2 series where a win is a non-negotiable.

I am guessing the latter series feeds into the next world test championship?

Shocking to lose to Zimbabwe. They need to stop these inconsistent performances. It forever seems like Pakistan is rebuilding with no consistency in 11
