Mohammed Abbas will be the chief destroyer, has been great for Leicestershire

 

But we need both Wahab & Junaid in the team. Wahab & Yasir always bowl better in tandem. We need the pace & reverse swing of Wahab.

 

He bowls well once every 10 matches, other than that he is all over the place. Junaid and Amir also bowl well in tandem.

Amir is gone, good riddance but why Junaid isnt selected?

Also, who will be 2nd spinner to support Yasir? Shadab is not good enough if he's selected as 2nd spinner, specially in Test.

 

Bilal is off-spinner who can bat at no.6.

Usman is a middle order player, plays slow but could be handy. You could consider him as Azhar II.

 

Can't figure out on what basis has Haris Sohail made the list.

 

He played good innings at no.4 in previous Test series, specially in UAE.

 

He plays with a beautiful straight bat you see hehe

 

Unfortunately that's true. And unfortunately that's our selection criteria. Riding on past performances.

 

I know, and once again, to me biggest disappointment is there is no second full-time spinner to support Yasir and he will have to work like a donkey. I am really concern that over bowling could reduce his carrier, but these idiots wouldn't understand.

 

The LOI and Test squads should for the most part stay separate IMO

Fakhar, Shadab, Faheem and Hasan should not have been selected, especially not after the Asia Cup we had.

Not sure what Bilal Asif and Mir Hamza are doing there either tbqh

 

Ideal time to have picked someone like Asghar who can be a good support bowler to Yasir. But no, let him turn 30+ and then we can test him.

 

Asghar or Gohar, either could be picked but as you said, they wouldn't get their chance before they hit 30.

 

Four fast bowlers for 2 test series is a bit overload I think. One of Zafar/Raza/Asghar should've been included in place of a fast bowler.Pretty harsh to drop Saad Ali without giving him any game.

Are you referring to Hassan Raza? Is he playing domestics? If yes, then how it did in domestic? Back in his groove?

 

Yes I was referring to Raza Hassan.He has'nt set the stage on fire this season but has taken some key wickets.Let me dig out his numbers for this year's QAE.

Inzy has an illusion that Shadab is our spin bowling allrounder but in reality Shadab is primarily a batsman who can bowl well when conditions are favourable.That's why genuine spinners are ignored while selecting the squad for tests.Inzy got carried away by Shadab's performance in PSL as a spinner.Shadab was never going to give those performances consistently because he's not a genuine spinner.Its not Shadab's fault that a guy who has played so much cricket for Pakistan could'nt identify his true skills.At the moment his performances as a batsman may look ordinary but for long term he should be groomed as a batting allrounder which is where his true skills lie if you have followed him from his U-19s days.

 

I knew that Mr. Revolutionary rates Shadab high but wanted some confirmation. And yes, I concur, what you said, its not players fault if your CS has no clue about quality of a player. That too, after playing cricket at highest level for years.

Yes, dude has talent but needs wickets and conditions to support him. Speaking of wickets, condition and PSL - he didnt performed well in PSL, which was held in UAE, so what happened to him in Asia cup? Maybe not fully fit? Or not taking his cricket serious any more?

 

Could be a career defining series for shadab.

 

Yeah he was'nt fully fit which was shown by his body language during yesterday's game.Other reasons could be:

• The quality of players he had to bowl to in Asia Cup was higher.
• His confidence as a player may have taken a hit after poor performance of the team.
• Not focusing enough on his cricket as you said and too much indulgence in social media etc.

Not saying he should cut off from his social circle completely but as a professional cricketer he needs to get his priorities right.

 

Yes, I have noticed too (his body language) and your other points are valid too.

However, there is another though comes in my mind, which is, good teams like India have done homework on him and maybe he's found out.

 

Yeah this could be one the reasons.Thats what separates big teams from smaller ones.On the other hand we were busy giving wickets to their key bowlers in crucial stages.

 

Yeah, I am thinking more and more that he's been found out. Its job of coaching staff and analyst to spend time with him. He certainly need to develop further skills, because top 6 teams are brutal, and what happened in Asia cup will happen again and again if he doesn't learn. On contrary, this is the beauty of playing tougher opposition, you evolve as player after getting phainta.

 

I think he should focus more on his batting because that's where his true potential lies.Along with that he should keep working on bowling.He needs to improve his accuracy as he loses it under pressure.I'm sure Mushtaq will be helpful for him.

 

Yes, he can certainly become a batting all-rounder and should definitely work with Musy on his shortcoming.

 

Both Bilal Asif & Shadab are Railu Kattas. You need specialists to win you Test matches. Asghar would be a perfect partner for Yasir.

Squad acha select kiya hai in my opinion!! Asia Cup ka squad bhi acha tha sirf Yasir Shah ko as 18th player select karna chahye tha in my opinion!!
