Just over an hour to go before it all kicks off. Pakistan come in to the final winning their last 3 games whereas the Lankans are unbeaten and have already beaten us in the group game which was a close contest.

1.05 pm Pakistan have a few injury worries heading into this big match. Good news for now is that Sharjeel Khan and Umar Gul are almost match fit. There is a bit of cloud around Shahid Afridi and Ahmed Shehzad, two very vital components in that batting order. Although early rumours are than Afridi's completd a fitness test and looks likely to play

Ideally I would like us to bat first but we have managed to chase down 2 games in a row coming in to this game so bowling first shouldn't be too bad either right?

Six players to watch out for today:

Sangakkara: Despite failing with the bat in the last match, Sanga is still the leading run scorer of the Asia Cup. Averaging 62 with a SR of almost 100, he's a big fish who has given Pakistan lots of headaches in the past. [In this tourney; 67, 103, 76 & 2]

Mendis: Despite not playing in one of the matches in Asia Cup so far, he's the leading wicket-taker (9 scalps at 14!). This mysterious spider looks to tie its prey all up in knots before embarrassing them with a innocuous variation. Although, he hasn't had a lot of success against Pakistan, it would be a mistake to underestimate him.

Malinga: The gunslinger's impact is more than what his stats show, and his stats aren't too bad either! (6 wickets at 22 in 3 matches) Malinga is a sure-fire way of getting wickets at either end of an innings. He took a 5-for against Pakistan just a week ago and will be a tough test for us again.

Shahid Afridi: This mercurial youngster is down with injury but not out! He'll look to get himself in spotlight once again at this big stage and will be needed with the ball if Pakistan are to be victorious tonight. His stints with the bat has covered up his below-average bowling in this tournament.

Muhammad Hafeez: An experienced face at the top of the order and often the opening bowler as well. A lot will depend on his shoulder too, if Pakistan are to beat Sri Lanka. He's scored 155 runs and gotten 5 wickets so far in four matches.

Misbah ul Haq: If Pakistan decide to go back to their collapsing ways, the bat of Misbah is where Pakistan will look for a solid rock. He will be under the spotlight and must perform with the bat to keep his place in the lineup.

I actually hope that they don't play half-injured players in this match. World T20 is just ahead.

Yeah last thing we want is Sharjeel to get injured and be forced to open with Kamran Akmal.

We should bat first today.. Chasing in final is diff than chasing in a league match.

1.10 pm Contrary to our expert fans here, the pitch report says the captains should want to bowl first because of the dew later in the evening. It's the same pitch that was used in the India-Pakistan game, flat and well rolled with just a bit of moisture to keep it together. So there might be a bit of seam on offer in the first 10 overs as well. The spinners are always going to have a say, but if they are bowling second they might struggle to grip the ball and it will skid onto the bat better as well.

Lol there is more chance of him gifting 100 runs to the opposition by dropping catches than scoring a ton.

Well we did win our last two matches while chasing and both matches were high pressure. In fact I would suspect that the India match probably had more pressure on the players than this final.

We should play to our strengths, why go the extra mile to only expose our flaws in chasing? Win toss & bat

Tail is bit long though, ideally would have preferred Bhatti or Talha

Why do we always play six specialist bowlers ? :why

Sri Lanka hiding Mendis from Pakistan again :lol

Only two time he hasn't played on his tour of Bangladesh (bi-lateral series and Asia Cup) was against Pakistan.

Misbah seems to like the extra security blanket in case a bowler has a bad day.

Then there is fawad or shahzad to bowl few overs..

Talha,Gul,Ajmal and Junaid are all mugs with bat and Afridi isn't consistent either.

On top of that Sharjeel is also a hack..

This is pretty much the last chance for Sharjeel, if he fails here than i don't seem him in the starting line-up for the T20 WC.

Pitch report:'This was the same wicket used for the India-Pakistan game. It is flat and well-rolled, the cracks are close together. There will be that hint of movement off the seam early on for the pacers. As usual, the spinners will come into play later on. The ball may skid on in the last 25 overs. The team that wins the toss should bowl first because of the dew factor', reckons Arun Lal
