Amir will come back instead of Junaid. And ideally Shinwari should be in place of Hasnain.

And Asif in place of Abid for sure.

Abid will stay as the reserve WK

Shinwari has been very hard done by. I would take Shinwari above Junaid, Amir and Hasnain.

A lot of Pakistani sports journalists and experts are left with egg on their face. All of them were adamant that Amir will be a lock, Junaid will never be selected, and Abid Ali will be ignored using fitness as an excuse. Well they all got proven wrong here.

If he does come back into the squad then it'll be because of performance. If the wanted him so badly then would have announced him as a part of the 15 already. Non performing players like Malik and Sarfraz made it to the 15 so why couldn't Amir?

On what basis? He does not deserve selection

They probably think Amir is a fighter - he is at his most dangerous when he has a point to prove

So they dropped him so he starts performing again

I agree Malik should not be there. Sarfaraz is captain so he cannot be dropped. Still doesn’t justify Amir should be selected. He has been atrocious.

Yaar come on, if Amir had been selected you would have been pissed off same, 5 wickets in 14 matches doesn't deserve automatic selection.

Yes, imo they have done perfect with the Amir situation because If he's inform then he's the only true match winner we have, you can't discard him completely but then he doesn't deserve world cup selection, all depends on Amir, he does well against England I'll have him as England have a top batting team including Bairstow, Buttler, Joe, Morgan, Roy, Hales, stokes.

Pakistan fans seem to enjoy moaning and crying. The Indian fans they are much more sensible. Despite everybody who knows about cricket saying their selection was not great they said that the selection was fine.

Rizwan should have been inplace of Malik but this happens in every world cup we know seniority culture is big.

As for everything else it's fine considering three things, continuous play, form and realistic selection.

If you are still crying just have a look at the 2013 ICC champions trophy squad and 2015 World cup squad, trust me this squad is millions of times better, this squad gives a sense of logic to me. Rizwan may not have been selected but it's a winner for him, say if Pakistan doesn't do well then Sarfraz will have to go. Rizwan who is a superior cricketer will gradually force Sarfraz to move on.

Shinwari didn't deserve a place because you can't afford to lose the plot in a World cup as for Amir if he performs he will come back.

People have concern about bowling options opted, thats fine, Amir might make his way if Junaid or Hasnain doesnt perform, however, nobody said a word about power hitter.

Who's role it will be to push the total in last 10 over and aim to make 80/90/100, which is the trend these days. Is this role given to Imad? Yes, he has been doing great in lower order but his fitness is shambolic, so what are the odds that he will be available in vitals games of such a prolong tournament?

Since that stunning showing in the final of the Champions Trophy final - incidentally, also in England - Amir has taken five ODI wickets in 101 overs of bowling at an average of 92.60 per wicket, the worst numbers among all bowlers to have sent down over 600 balls in this period. Non inclusion justified

I really like the squad of the options we have tried in last 2 years. I am really happy to see Abid ali selected. He is in terrific form and i am happy to see him ahead of Shan.

Hasnain is a surprising selection. I hope he does really well. Thats the only thing i was not sure, i was and am still thinking Pakistan should have gone with Aamir(even though Aamir has not done well in last 2 years as far as wickets are concerned) but his economy is still has been good. I am really happy to see Junaid in the team ahead of Shinwari. I hope Pakistan team does really well and make the nation proud. Its time to back and Pray for Pakistan Cricket team.

Their were basically three spots up for contention:

    1) Left arm 'steady' opening pacer (Amir or Junaid)

They went with Junaid for now but Amir could replace him after England series.

    2) Risky but potential match winner (Shinwari or Hasnain)

They went with the developing brain over the bowler with no brain

    3) Backup batsman (Abid or Rizwan)

They went with the 3rd opener instead of a 5th option for the middle order.

They missed the forest for the trees and selected a team full of accumulators, fairweather all rounders and out of form batsmen aka Sarfraz and Malik. Either they are expecting Imad, Faheem and Shadab to suddenly turn up a notch in consistency and actually score quick fifties in every game or they are expecting the bowling to carry the team single handedly. For all his issues, we really needed Ukmal for a balanced batting lineup this WC.

I like what they’ve done with Amir; the message is clear: if you perform in England, you get in, otherwise you don’t. Good decision, and fair too. The kick up the backside he needed.

Could’ve taken Shinwari along for the England series too. He can feel a bit hard done by. Personally I am a bit surprised he got snubbed for Junaid. I would’ve preferred Shinwari between the two.

Also expected Rizwan to get the nod over Abid, hopefully the lack of a backup WK does not backfire.

    Good / expected squad otherwise

Shinwari should have been there in place of Hasnain. Amir will make it to World Cup in place of Junaid.

Mir Hamza is doing very well for Sussex at the moment.

Could be a bit of a left field selection if he continues to succeed in England and the rest of the bowlers flop on the England tour.

Personally I don't agree with picking Hasnain in the squad just yet.

Cricket has evolved tremendously since the days that Wasim and Waqar burst onto the scene without playing much domestic cricket.

Nowadays a player stays 'unknown' for a very short period of time before the opposition is able to compile a game plan to counter them.

The players that cut it are those that are able to evolve. Part of the reason most Pakistani players come in a blaze of success and fade away is the lack of ability to evolve. Particularly in the batting department.

For a young player with no domestic cricket to fall back on, playing a world cup will be incredibly tough. I think he will make way for Amir.

hasnain has been selected to hold the spot for amir. would be politically difficult to drop shinwari or junaid on the back of amir having one or two good games in england series.
