Pakistan cricket head coach Mickey Arthur has said that the management is close to finalise the World Cup squad of Pakistan, revealing that there is ‘one decision’ that they need to make on a player, while the others are sorted out. “We’re very close (to finalising the World Cup squad). Inzimam and I have met regularly and we’re close. I’d probably say there’s one decision we have to make on a player, the others are sort of signed and sealed,” said Arthur. Talking about the upcoming tour of England, which would be just before the World Cup 2019, Arthur said that the tour would be a ‘training camp’ for the Men in Green “In essence, the England tour is going to be a bit of a training camp for us. We’re going to work the guys hard throughout that tour. We’re going to need the guys peaking on May 31 for the World Cup game against West Indies,” he said. The head coach also expressed concern over the mediocre bowling display by his side especially in the death overs. “I’m not going to sugarcoat it, we’ve got a lot of work to do with the bowling. Our death-bowling hasn’t been good over the last year,” he said. Pakistan would tour England in May to play one T20 and five ODIs, which would be their final series before the ICC World Cup 2019. https://www.brecorder.com/2019/04/0...ad-decision-needed-on-one-player-says-arthur/
there's no way Amir should be a certainty, he's been ground into the ground by stupid fans and stupider management - he's finished. I dont know where this fantasy about how a player who once did well in a tournament might then always be likely to do well, or in one country. time and time again we see players who fluke a performance here or there. its only Pakistan that will give a player who has had one good game in a particular scenario another ten chances to fail on the back of it. I reckon the player in question is ukmal.
Agreed! Aamer is a certainty, probably will be his last tour unless he does something extraordinary. I think Hasnain is not being considered, its a contest among Junaid,Shinwari and Riaz.
I think they're trying to decide between Asif Ali, Umar Akmal and maybe some other big hitter down the order.
I don't think UA will be considered after such performances, he got 5 chances and failed.Asif ali will get selected as he can't do worse than Akmal
rumours are that the team management have asked the selection committee not to consider ukmal for the wc squad - although dont know if that was prior to or after his accepted guilt, apology and 20% match fee fine.
I will take Asif Ali any day over Umar Akmal hands down. Nobody, literally nobody should name UA after this series.
