A Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-661 'went missing' on the way to Islamabad from Chitral on Wednesday.

There are more than 40 passengers on board the plane. Singer-cum-evangelist Junaid Jamshed was allegedly on board the plane, according to media reports.

Army troops and army helicopters have been mobilised to a site near Havelian, Inter-Services Public Relations said.

District Police Officer Abbottabad relayed reports of a plane crashing near Havelian to DawnNews.

"PIA's ATR-42 aircraft operating as PK-661, carrying around 40 persons lost its contact with the control tower on its way from Chitral to Islamabad a short while ago," PIA Spokesman Daniyal Gilani tweeted. "All resources are being mobilised to locate the aircraft."

The flight departed from Chitral around 3:30pm and was expected to land at Islamabad's Benazir Bhutto International Airport at around 4:40pm.

We all have to die one day. This life, your father, mother, son etc etc is nothing but a property of Allah. He can take them back whenever he wants.

Im still heartbroken. I have so much respect for Junaid Jamshed for ALL he has done.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilay'hi raji'un.

May Allah have mercy on all other passengers on the flight as well, forgive them for their mistakes and grant them Jannah.

Pilots were brothers apparently, imagine what their parents are going through.

Young bureaucrat was also on board, along with his wife and daughter.

Osama Ahmed Waarich was ADC Peshawar and a key figure in the anti encroachment drive. Due to his excellent work last year he was promoted to DC Chitral and began to work there soon after the floods. Pakistan lost an honest and hard working public servant today.

Dont want to sound bitter but we shouldnt b3 making such posts. Only God knows who will enter heaven or hell. We can only pray and hope for best rather than assume that both are already in heaven.

In such a moment the only thing a pilot could do is save as many lives as he could, and according to one eye witness, the plane could had crashed in a near by villiage but the pilot saved it from crashing their and it hit the mountain

such sad news, and dont give me this pilots lost control stuff, i simply dont buy pakistani pilots are so inferior to foreign pilots that they crash every year, this happens way too often in pakistan, nearly 600 people dead in plane crashes in the past 6 years.

like everything in pakistan there pbly isnt any proper monitoring or third party checks on the air worthiness of the planes, and where it is the operators are pbly paying back handers or whatever to the inspecotrs..... maybe im wrong but i refuse to believe these deaths cannot be avoided. felt sad the first time it happened, maybe the second, now its anger.

apologies if people dont think this is the place for the rant, but it had to be said.

There is a apparent audio from inside the plane before the crash of the passengers screaming and crying being circulated. Very scary.
