Pakistan’s former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has sparked debate after yet another controversial statement.

According to details, Razzaq has touted a team made up of best players from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to overpower a similar lineup from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“If a team of the best players from the Indian Premier League faced a team made-up of the best players from the Pakistan Super League, the PSL team would win,” Abdul Razzaq said.

Earlier, Razzaq’s comments about Indian fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah also had not gone down well with the pacer’s fans.

Razzaq, in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, had claimed that he would have had no difficulty in countering India’s death-bowling specialist Bumrah, if he was still playing international cricket.

“After having faced world class bowlers in my time, I would have had no problem against a bowler like Bumrah. Pressure would have been on him,” said Razzaq. “I have played against great bowlers like Glenn Mcgrath and Wasim Akram, so Bumrah is a baby bowler in front of me and I could have easily dominated and attacked him.”

His remarks, in the same interview, about Indian captain Virat Kohli also raised eyebrows.

“If Virat Kohli scores, he scores. Yeah, he is a good player for them and is performing consistently, but you cannot place him in the same category as Sachin Tendulkar. He belongs to a different category,” he said.

I wish we do come back to be #1 but that is along road.

And please no Misbah for that long!!!! I used to think Misbah had good cricket brain, now after all these selections I doubt he has any brain.

Selections kiya buri ki hein? He has basically tried to rejig entire squad and pool of players and see who are useful players and who are dead weight! Some players were rusty having not played for a long time - likes of Ahmed Shahzad, Umar Akmal and Mohd Irfan!! He replaced them due to public pressure but in my opinion they need to be persisted with if you have to get the best out of them as they are the best available talent! As far as Mohd Irfan is concerned, I think his time is over~ We have got better replacements in Harris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi and Usman Shinwari~~ In my opinion, Usman Shinwari needs to be backed in the same manner as Shaheen Afridi as I think both are very good talents and both are replacement for each other and can serve us in the long run!!

Dekho i know Misbahs strategy straightaway! He is doing what popular opinion is! And when the popular opinion fails, then he does what he always knows he should have been doing! He wanted to give Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal and Irfan a longer run cus they had simply been brought back from nowhere after 2-3 years atleast away from the scene!! But, what happened was that he faced public pressure and as a result, he replaced them to show to the public that public is wrong and he is right! Basically, he is doing what public wants him to do! Public had not taken Pakistan to No. 1 test ranking, Misbah had done that! So, when the public fails then he gets his way in and does what he wants to do!!

So why do we need a Chief Selector? Why not just have a online poll and let popular opinion decide? So what you are syaing is, Misbah picks players out of nowhere, and waits for people to pressure him so he can change them.

The players he picked were the ones who could deliver in the longer run say for about till next ODI World Cup atleast! Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal are talented without a doubt and they still have years of cricket left in them! Its sad to see them wasted in this manner! This is the reason why Misbah brought them back as they are an asset of Pakistan cricket! As far as Mohd Irfan is concerned, Misbah thought that he could atleast serve us in shortest format of the game with his height! But, in my opinion we have better options than Irfan now with the likes of Usman Shinwari, Harris Rauf being available to us and also age and fitness and form are not on Irfans side right now! So, its time we said goodbye to him! But, even Misbah said he wanted to give a long run to Ahmed and Akmal but he was facing severe backlash from public. Public were after him from Day One. They wanted result from the very first day and general opinion was that nobody was happy with appointment of Misbah for these roles! Therefore, pressure was paramount on Misbah to deliver asap/ I dont see the reason why there was so much pressure on Misbah from public and media! If you dont want to appoint him, then dont but if you have appointed him and given him such heavy responsibility then atleast give him time and freedom to deliver in the best possible manner!!

By nowhere I mean, these players had been playing cricket for a decade - Akmal, Shahzad and Irfan! He did not pick them from nowhere! Yes, they were out of the scene for a very long period! But, I think it was Mickey Arthur and Waqar Younus who had messed up our entire cricket team in their tenures!! They sidelined talented players like Ahmed, Akmal, Irfan, Sohail Khan, Rahat Ali, Imran Khan for various reasons and result was that we had short term success but damage it did to Pakistan cricket was immeasurable~~ What Misbah is doing is he is trying to repair that damage and it takes time and he is facing media and public pressure at the same time for no reason which is adding to his already so much responsibilities! Misbah is simply doing what PM is doing to the country! PM is reforming the country from its very roots, getting country rid of corruption and debts which we are suffering from for so many years and both Misbah and the PM are getting blame for wrong which previous people did and not their own doing!!

As far as Faheem Ashraf is concerned, I think we need him in limited overs cricket as Abbas does not play limited overs cricket, there Faheem Ashraf can serve us as we need right arm as well as left arm pacers!! Usman Shinwari should be picked in all formats in the squads atleast and so should be Harris Rauf!!

And Imran Khan sr will also be dropped from test squad very soon in my opinion as we have better option than him in Harris Rauf, who is an Australian type bowler in my opinion - very much like Shoaib Akhtar or a Hazlewood!!

Another reason for this constant chop and change is that he wants to extract best out of his players! He wants them competing for places and he wants a high competition culture! He does not want anybody to take his place for granted! He wants them to put a price on their places~ If he allows them to play as long as they want without performance, then their performance will decline and they will lose interest in the [email protected] He is keeping everybody interested at the same time!!

Another reason is that if he does not accede to public pressure, they will bring him down!! This media and public is after him for no reason! This is where the PM should step in and say Misbah is here to stay and select anybody he wants to based on merit!! And PM did that too I think some time back!! Misbah needs strong support of his board to implement changes and reforms that he wants to bring in Pakistan cricket! Focus should be long term success rather than short term gain!!

When we lost t20 series against Sri Lanka and Australian tour, then everyone was after Misbahs head as if Misbah had a magic wand. He could safayofi all the ghand that Arthur and Waqar Younus inflicted on Pakistani team in last 10 years within couple of series!!

Rauf is more similar to Akhtar, not hazlewood. Hazlewood is more of a swing bowler.

Rauf and Usman Shinwari both have strong shoulders, a bit of muscle about them and both are aggressive in their nature so thats the reason why I called them Australian like!!

You dont need to be express to be an Australian bowler! You need to have a bit of attitude about you and a lot of aggression! Australians are fierce competitors and are always in your ear and in your face!!

Rauf has the Shoaib Akhtar attitude, similar to Stokes. We need such attitudes, not timid attitudes like Azhar Ali.
