Not sure how soon this will be worked on by Qatar. The country was in such a prime position just until couple of years back but is now going through a bit of turmoil (thanks to MBS) in the regional relations with its neighbors and the business is definitely impacted in there.

Don't think so. For these sort of openings there are usually agents to hire from each 3rd world countries. India Pakistan Bangladesh Indonesia. and quota is assigned. They would have raised the quota for Pakistanis.

it plays beautifully into the whole situation - IK has played his hand expertly here. he has reached out to both sides of the conflict and has then both now competing for favour with pakistan.

the gulf states have a lot in common - cash rich, human capital poor, cowardly lack any defence. in addition, the bickering between them has two sides, Qatar/iran/turkey vs Saudi/UAE. Pakistan on the other hand is cash poor and human resource rich, with defence capability, on the cusp of massive economic potential given the crackdown on corruption, the intent to foster foreign investment, and vast untapped human capital - and all that with a case study of our neighbours who have shown how much low hanging economic fruit there is.

thats the perfect storm for pakistan but requires some competence at the government level which we finally have. the gold states, and Qatar in particular given its cast gas reources and tiny national population is in no danger whatsoever of economic stress - getting them on board is a safe bet, and their quarrel with MBS makes the deals favour us.

whilst the enemies of pakistan including many Pakistanis are quoting Indian journalism, screaming about relatively minor issues in the country: JITs, the PMs sister's 380k flat and so on, whilst ignoring multi billion dollar corruption, a previous government who's cabinet has virtually all been jailed or is about to, a total abject failure of previous governments to secure water, energy, power, police, healthcare/hospitals, independent institutions and saddling the country with astronomical economy crippling debt, this government from that desperately catastrophic starting point has done an incredible job in the first six months of their first ever term in government.

an unprecedented interest in investment from global institutions, corporations and governments, an unprecedented depoliticising of institutions so that justice finally has a chance to breathe and an unprecedented concentration on the common man rather than rich and corrupt.

its astonishing how hypocritical the detractors are of the PTI and Imran, and how much the hate for him for whatever reason clouds context, the bigger picture, and just how genuinely stupid the arguments are. as muslims say - everyone will have to pay for their actions, and their intent cannot be hidden by He who judges.

there's everything right in criticising the incumbent government, the PM and his decisions when it is fair and rational, but disproportionate emphasis, lies, and purposeful deceit in the context of the alternatives and what they have achieved as summarised above, is a proof of both gross stupidity, and putrid filth and disease in the heart and mind.

I guess they need more workers to complete their WC stadiums and other athletic aspirations.

I suppose the families of these poor workers who are inevitably going to die from working in pathetic conditions might get compensated somewhat, but it won't bring them back once they're gone.

So modern day slave trade is now considered an achievement? Amazing.

An honest conversation would be more like.

Pakistani Moron: We have millions of people for sale. They are young, malnourished and poor along with some dumber than a rock but supposedly "educated" from our rotten education system. They can slave away to build your roads, bridges and stadiums so your insecure, fat, disgusting, diabetes infested populace can drive around your desert or perhaps to ostentatious mosques to bang their heads on the floor and claim how pious they are.

    Qatari Moron: Take my money!

    Pakistanis: Amazing achievement.

    What a world.

What a world indeed. Comparing this to the slave trade where people were abducted and sold off in different parts of the world. Slaves were tortured and raped by their "owners". They weren't paid for their work.

Let's not take slavery so lightly.
