Looking at the sorry state of Australian team these days, its difficult to believe that this is the same team that once had spare match winners warming their benches.

After the spot fixing scandal broke out, Pakistan lost a potential permanent Test captain in Butt, and 2 promising great fast bowlers of that time i.e. Asif and Amir. We were affected big time but still there were other players in the pipeline who rose to the occasion.

Aussies on the other hand just can not seem to cover up the loss of Smith/Warner. Unlike Pakistan, Australians did not have any obvious choice for leader as well as any reliable batsmen on bench to replace their trio. No wonder they have looked so timid and don't think they'd start doing better all of a sudden even if Smith and Warner comeback right away.

well there pipeline isn't as strong as Pakistans it seems

plus Australian team were already declining even with Warner and Smith. They have been on a decline since 2011 WC

Agree with Patriot. Australia were only strong at home and already shit away from home and it does mean alot when you take the two main players out of team forexame if you take out Pujara and Kohli, India would have been 3-0 down.

Pakistan still had a very experienced batting lineup and bowling was still not bad. We had ajmal, wahab and Gul that time and again we were doing well only at home. White washed in SA, NZ and Australia. Only time we did well was in Eng when we drew 2-2 and then 1-1.

To be fair this was the story with pretty much all teams (that is win at home and lose away) until very recently (England winning in SL, NZ in UAE and India hopefully in Australia).

SL winning in UAE, India winning in SL and Aus/SA winning away against each other should not count due to similarity of conditions.

well aus lost players who were cheating to win, pak lost players who were cheating to underperform (if not lose outright).

the sacking of salman butt was one of the best things to happen to pak cricket, long may he sit on the sidelines.
