I think Sarfaraz Ahmed deservves a chance in ODI Cricket as he has been performing very well in Test matches with the bat. He is consistent and sensible thats what we need. We also need a good wicket keeper as Umar Akmal is not a good wicket keeper (still better than Dinesh Karthik though) and Sarfaraz is very good behind the stumps. What do you think?

No, he's not an ODI player. There's a reason he averages 27 in domestic One Day Games...

    yes. selected for the bench
U Akmal isnt a good keeper but in todays day and age you need a keeper who can bat and by playing Sarfaraz we'd only weaken our poor batting even further
I'm all for bringing in a specialist keeper if he is actually a decent batsman or if we had a much better batting lineup to be able to afford a keeper who wasnt capable of batting in the top order.

There isn't any space in the team at the moment, who would you drop him for?

And Umar Akmal is doing a fine job any way to be honest.

Umar Akmal as a WK is a ticking time bomb and can hurt us in a big game anytime. Sarfarz does not merit a position in ODI looking at his domestic records. He is kinda single/double batsman and can hold an end but may get stuck when we need to score at higher run rate. Rizwan Ahmed is the option I will try first before looking at Bismillah Khan.

Sarfaraz is a decent batsmen but I think we already have Misbah and Fawad to do that job, may end up with a score like 200-4 after 50 overs with those 3 in the team.

Long term, Pakistan should look to bring in Mohammed Rizwan, is he the same as Rizwan Ahmed?

I think Sarfraz is more suitable simply staying in tests, He doesn't suit LOIs, he's always been crap in the one dayers. And if seen he hadsn't totally proved himself, one good performance, that's it. Way to go.

Nope, he's fine at test level and should be content to play in tests only.

Playing him in the OD games means dropping someone like Umar, Maqsood or Fawad.

I would definitely not drop Umar Akmal from the starting 11 as he is a more than usual batsman but i would play Sarfaraz (as wicketkeeper) instead of someone like Sharjeel Sohaib or Fawad.

for tests he is fit. for ODI or T20, Umar Akmal is still a better choice for keeper

Rashid raised a valid point. If you want to use a player as wk in international cricket then that player should keep in domestic cricket as well. Dont expect umar to perform as a keeper if he is not practising in domestic cricket.

The missed chances will come and bite on big occasions like today but we have to live with it till a better option comes along.

How many dropped catches by Umar Akmal can you recall before the game yesterday? As a part timer, he is doing a great job.

And Sarfaraz Ahmed is a decent batsmen but he would never have been able to play the innings Umar Akmal did.

If there is a replacement for him in ODIs, it should and can only be Mohammad Rizwan, but that would have to come at the expense of another batsmen, and all batsmen are doing a fine job at the moment.

And please do note that my comment came before Umar Akmal dropping Thirimanne.
