Day 3 was about England pulling the odds back into their own favour. Despite Misbah and Sarfraz scoring around 50 runs each, Pakistan still lost 7 wickets for just 143 runs.

England then spent the rest of the day eating into Pakistan's near 100 run first innings lead. Not a single English wicket fell and the Pakistani bowlers looked to be totally out of ideas. England ended Day 3 on 120/0 having obliterated Pakistan's lead for no loss.

Pakistan's Sarfraz ended the innings on 46* and didn't look to be in any trouble at all. He looked like he could have scored a lot more but he ran out of partners again. It's time Misbah and Co. looked beyond the fact that Sarfraz is a keeper and noted that he's one of the best batsmen in the side.

He needs to bat in the top 5.

Should have picked Zohaib Khan as the all rounder option. Compact batting technique for longer format and a very good off spinner.

No sympathy for a team that plays such a useless tail

Nawaz is a much better batsman and bowler than him.

Not for the longer formats as a batsman Zohaib is better while Nawaz better bowler, as a bowler in LOI Zohaib is better while Nawaz is the better batsman

Zohaib is more suited for Test Cricket or ODI than he is for lets say T20 like Nawaz.

Their domestic statistics reflect that. Not much to differentiate them apart from age. Both good fielders

      Edited it @Don Duckman

Nawaz's performance in England and their respective FC records tell us otherwise. Not to mention the immense age difference.

Zohaib's batting average is slightly better with a 3 runs difference while he has a 31 bowling average compared to Nawaz's 24. The stats clearly favour Nawaz in the longer format, which is where you said Zohaib is better.

Tbh, you heavily over-rate Zohaib, I don't see any future for him in the Pakistan team when there is Nawaz and Asghar.

Slightly better but Zohaib is capable of playing those long battling innings in FC, Not overhyping at all, he was top wicket taker with Mohammad Amir recently too in the Pakistan Cup. Asghar is a better bowler than both Nawaz and Zohaib though.

I can only claim what I see and Zohaib strikes me as a very useful lower order all rounder option. Also a leader of men which is something nobody can deny, his wins as captain speak for themselves too with a money ball team consistent of literally zero superstars. We need more of those out there on the pitch

No harm in trying him out even for short term, we are not blessed with spin all rounders right now except for Zohaib and Nawaz.

Sure but it seems management is favouring Nawaz as he is the vice-captain of the A-team and touring England (as well as selected for LOIs). There is also the eventuality of Hafeez passing his test as we have to remember Zohaib and Hafeez are not very different in age. But your captaincy argument is a good one, it's true that Zohaib seems to be a responsible player.

Wasim was talking up Ahmed Butt as an allrounder during The Verdict. Is he any good?

I might be in minority but sarfraz has been awful in this series and this 46 was his first major score and even in this inning he batted poorly with tail.

May be you have forgotton his 45 in second innings of Lords Test in which he was second highest scorer after Shafique and helped Pak got to a match winning lead? You substract his runs from team total and the match was nearly lost the way Bairstow and Woakes were going.

      Selective amnesia?

No.. I was judging him on the basis of his high standard and the position he bats at. He bats at number 7 and should be contributing more than this 40 odd.
So two 40 odd innings out of 6 makes him good ? He bats at number 7 man and should be contributing much more than what he is doing now.

He is still contributing more than our so called best available Test Opener and best ever Test Batsman.
