We've seen the likes of Nuwan Kulasekara do well in the ODIs and getting picked for tests, thereby carrying on the good form. Should Pakistan have taken the chance and drafted Tanvir in the test squad? He was the only pacer to come out with some promise in coloured clothing and solely on merit, deserves his place in the whites as well.

Or is he simply not good enough at the test level?

I don't think Tanveer's Test level to be honest. He has the potential to be a valuable one-day player though

Gul was actually mostly OK this match (though he went wicketless), Junaid has been off colour awhile but recovered in the 2nd innings with what was probably his second-best spell in Tests, though it was way too late. I think Kulasekara and Tanveer are very different patterns of swing bowlers, Kulasekara seams and swings it both ways quite methodically, especially the in-swinger, and Tanveer's angle, awkward lift and occasional late swing are his main assets--he doesn't really have the process yet I think of a Test bowler

1137moiz how about going in on the basis of form? I'm not too sure myself how he'll fare at test level but there is always a temptation to try and play your best players on merit. Then again, that's only a mental thought-process and has no significance on the value of a player to the format.

Lol would had been quite funny to have in test.

To be honest, tanvir would have done nothinging if he was selected..

Tanvir only picks wickets when the batsmen tries to have a go at him. In tesr, sri lankanwould play tanvir defensively and attack the other

not a bad idea at all, Lankan top order struggle against him and he can provide some quality with the new ball.

I have my doubts about Tanvir in test. Right now if there are not FAST bowlers is Pakistan then we must start looking for someone who can move/seam the ball both ways on regular basis. No batsman likes the moving ball in international cricket.

I still won't trust Tanvir in test cricket TBH, yes he bowled well in the limited over series but he definitely has some fitness issues and needs to work on them before being considered for test cricket.

Rahat Ali must be tried instead of tanveer. Rahat has extra bounce in little i saw of him he can deliver in tests

No he is specialist for T20 & ODI, in Test matches he will struggle big time ... so bottom line look for other options instead of ruining his legs in 5 day cricket
