no one enters the game perfect - he will learn and fine tune his game and the only way that will happen is if we let him play and gain experience
he had a tough entrance having to face the Saffie attack and in 5 odis averaged 39 - that is a very good return imo for someone starting int.cricket against arguably the worlds best bowling lineup
Maqsood is twice the player that Umar Akmal will ever be!
Give the guy a chance before calling him the saviour of our batting
I'm really happy for Maqsood, First saw him play during the 2009 or 2008 Faysal bank T20 and he looked good till throwing it all away. Couple of seasons down the line and his form just turned disgusting, Last season and in particular this one he's turned out to be a different man as well as a player. His physique has built, From a nothing fielder to something decent, Better attributes in his batting as well. He's a fearless character and is never worried about anything! Hopefully he does turn out to be one of our best players but it'll take a lot of time. I, We, The country had so much hope on Umar Akmal, Nasir Jamshed but they've fallen compared to how they started. Hopefully Maqsood doesn't.
cramped for room and couldn't even deal a half tracker
ehtesham has a liking for young cricketers Aka Hammad so SM does not meet his criteria!
Great batsman, so Umar Amin finally gone.
Not trying to be critical or anything, but he really needs to be smart with his smart selection. I think out of the 8 ODI's he has played, he has been caught out like that around 5 times..needs to utilise his good form. But I guess he is a youngster and will learn with experience. Shouldn't change his attacking instinct at all though, just needs to calm down a bit, today's match he had already hit 2 sixes of the over, the shot he played wasn't required.
Throws his wicket away too many times. When you hit two sixes in an over you should be smart and take singles will easily get 20 runs then.
very frustrating how often he loses his focus and plays a rash shot, he is always getting starts.
He will insha allah learn better shot selection with experience, I still think he will go on to have a very successful career
His partnership with Shahzad was a game-changer in 2nd ODI against SA!
Needs to regain some form or he'll e out of the team soon. Perhaps swap his position with Umar who is in good form.
Agree UA needs to be promoted here. Maqsood is low in confidence. I hope they don't drop him in next game because of today's run out.
we should wait and see how he does against india, lets see how he handles the pressure of such a big game and from that we will be able to tell how good he really is
i never saw him full 50 overs he will take time ... he looks like inzi
Have said it many a times and will say again, he's a leg side hack who can't play a shot on the off to save his life. Not blaming him for the loss though.
And ASLI-PATHAN asked to make him captain :rofl
I was impressed with his start at international level. I am not his coach to know him better. :shrug
lol he is out of sorts, shame, management should not let a player of his talent go to waste, if he is not improving they are failing Pakistan cricket. Pretty much left him to rot down the order he is clearly lacking in confidence
Everyone was so jumpy about his brilliant start to his career nobody ever cared to fix the flaws he had and his temperant issue. Now he's out of form and confidence too. I hate how we handle our players.
HE BATTED THE BEST IN THE 80 RUN DEBACLE AGAINST WI!
Was definitely our best batsman today.
ALbIe will be very happy today. Good performances from both Maqsood & Riaz.
Opinion changed ?
Top innings today by Sohaib.
Good day for ALbIe but bad for ehtesham
Amazing batting today, really liked his intent, long may it continue, IA.
I still have concerns over his technique, but Steve Smith has proven that intent is far more important than technique and that's exactly what Maqsood should focus on.
aand that is why you should stop criticizing Fawad
Steve Smith has scored test tons against Steyn and Anderson #WakeyWakey Fawad could only dream of that, imo
Actually I am a very big fan likes of Saeed Anwar, Inzi, Yousuf, Asad Shafique and Sohaib Maqsood, i pray and think the last two guys would be our heroes Insha Allah in upcomong cricket. A great innings, byond the belief.
I learnt a saying in school:Class always prevail!
Except that Khurram and Azhar scored their tons on Dubai Highway while Smith's tons came at Oval, Perth, Sydney and Centurion.
I think Faadi is capable of scoring against these bowlers on foreign pitches but how can we know unless we try him ?
Azhar had a 92* vs England in England as well but Manzoor's ton was a fluke.
I predict many converts to this cause
How many centuries our great batsman have scored at Perth, Oval, Sydney and centurion ?
That doesn't mean we select someone who doesn't have the technique to play short pitch bowling.
No man..that isn't the point. Point is that its unfair to highlight only him when almost all our batsmen struggle on seaming pitches against quality pace.
Its not rocket science yar. Ahmad, as of now is not an extraordinary batsman, he still has tons in NZ and SA. Why? Because he's a backfoot player, only backfoot players could flourish on bouncy tracks and Fawad I'm afraid is not one. Why not invest in players who're more likely to do better on lively tracks.
